Cross River Rail Delivery Authority Brisbane's new underground. Once operational Cross River Rail will transform the way we travel across the whole of South East Queensland.

Cross River Rail is a much needed second river crossing at the core of the SEQ rail network, with capacity to run as many as 24 trains in each direction per hour. Not only will it unblock a bottle neck at the core of the current rail network and enable increased frequency of trains across the whole of South East Queensland, a second rail path through the C*D will also increase network reliability and improve rail overall as a customer experience. The project includes a new 10.2km rail line that includes 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and C*D; with four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street. The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is also delivering multiple supporting projects and activities in conjunction with Queensland Rail and the Department of Transport and Main Roads, including accessibility rebuilds for eight surface stations; construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast; upgrades for stabling yards; track works and surface rail enhancements; and the introduction of a new world-class digital train signalling system. Journeys will be quicker door-to-door; there will be new stations in more convenient locations; there will be capacity to run more trains more often; and public transport will become a more viable option for the whole of our region, helping to ease congestion on our roads.

While all of our stations undergo an extensive testing and commissioning regime, some moments remind you more than others of the importance of ensuring they're ready for all passengers.

Our Accessibility Reference Group recently visited Woolloongabba station for a tour, giving them the opportunity to see the features and systems customers will use every day.

Comprised of individuals with lived experience and representatives from disability sector organisations, the Accessibility Reference Group has been consulted on the design, amenity, accessibility and technology systems of all our surface and underground stations. This allows us to identify pain points and opportunities to make sure our stations are functional and inclusive for all customers.

As ARG member Robert said "It feels great because a lot of what we've talked about over the last five years has been put into practice. The whole station is user-friendly, better for people in wheelchairs, older people or whoever. It's a really nice space. You normally don't get this space in a train station."

CCTV, TVS, VT, PSD, HVAC and HAL ๐Ÿค” Do you know what they are?
Hint: They are just some of the systems that are currently being tested in our underground stations.

There is a flurry of testing and commissioning work happening on the all equipment and systems inside our four stations, to make sure they operate correctly, safely and are ready for passenger services.

This is the stage of the project where we make sure every individual aspect of the new underground line works, first individually and then followed by integration testing where we make sure all those systems operate together.

This week the final hoardings come down on the first stage of the Albert Street pedestrian zone that we are handing over to Brisbane City Council, to be included as an extension of the Queen Street Mall.

This area is immediately in front of the future northern entrance to the Albert Street station, which is a short hop to the Queen Street Mall, Uptown and Wintergarden retail precincts.

The next stage will be the section between Charlotte Street and Mary Street, right in front of the main station entrance. Which has already started to be transformed with new paving and trees ๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒด

Keep watching to see how what was just a render has become a reality.

Boggo Road is the latest of our underground station sites to commission its Tunnel Ventilation System (TVS) fans. Keep watching to find out how the fans stop the tunnels from getting hot ๐Ÿฅต

This is all part of the first phase of testing, making sure all the equipment that's been installed in the stations is working as intended ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ๐Ÿš‡
The TVS fans are just one of thousands of systems the need to be tested to ensure the underground station and tunnels are safe, reliable and ready for passengers.

We were delighted to have 40 guests with us at Albert Street station last week and as part of the Brisbane Open House program.

The tour was led by the senior engineers who are delivering Albert Street station, joined by representatives from Hassell, the architecture firm behind the stationโ€™s design.

The attendees got to explore the future station from the entrance down to platform level, getting an up-close look at key features already in place, including the elevators, platform screen doors and architectural finishes.
