Did you know that there were 2 bakeries on the Bakers Folly property?
One in 1920s that flooded and lasted 2 years and another in the 1960s?
There are 4 years between these before and after photos of the second bakery.
We're opening our garden for the Quenda Festival on 24th October and we'll share stories of some of Kendenup’s history and what's worked for us in our garden.
Drop by and chill in our garden between events, guided tours 10am, 11 and 12 or take a wander yourself.

Shade is so important, as is screening.
The first 2 photos are 4 years apart.
It was suggested we put a structure up to shade this area, but that wouldn't have let any sun in in winter.
We had faith and patience, and now we can sit here and enjoy our lunch in the shade.
Shade in summer, sun in winter, keeping us cool and warm.
Come to our open garden during the Quenda Festival 24th October and I can explain how we don't heat our northern wing in winter.
Tours of the garden will be 10am, 11am and 12pm.
Thanks to Ray and Charlotte there will be a wide variety of plants for sale and Sue Harrold will have her wonderful ceramics for sale in the old bakery.

Why would The Baker build a bakery in Kendenup?
Why build it underground when the water table is only 600mm from the surface?
We're opening our garden for the Quenda Festival 24th October.
There will be guided tours from 10am, on the hour, where these questions will be answered and other interesting Kendenup history will be told.
We'll explain why we we planted our garden like we have, what worked and how.
Local ceramist Sue Harrold is selling her work in the old Bakehouse and a display of decorated Quenda to vote on for the Quenda Art Hunt.

There's a lot happening in our garden at the moment.
Flowers coming and going, new buds and trees getting bigger.
It's exciting to see plans about shade and screening coming to fruition.
