🎉Completed: Penneshaw Beach Access Upgrade
The earth ramp providing safer access to Penneshaw Beach has been completed and is getting the stamp of approval from humans and pups alike!
Much of the sand that had collected under the beach shelter has also been removed ensuring beachgoers can use the shelter this summer.
Thanks to everyone for their patience as this work was completed. Council plans to plant endemic species on the path edges next winter.

Funding for this work was secured by the Council as part of the State Government's Algal Bloom Local Government Grants. 🙏

🚧Penneshaw Beach Access Improvements: Upcoming Works

The Council is pleased to inform the community it will start works to improve access to Penneshaw Beach from Monday, 12 October.

As part of the works, the steps from the Lloyd Collins Reserve car park will be replaced with a gradual earth ramp running down to the beach shelter. As well as improving access to the beach, some of the sand that has blown under and around the shelter will also be removed making it easier to access.

Some vegetation will have to be removed to allow for the footprint of the path and the general maintenance to be done; revegetation with endemic species is planned for next year.

Construction on the ramp will begin on Monday, 12 October and is expected to take about one week, during which beach access via the area will be closed. Please use other beach access points during this time.

NB: the EV charging stations will still be operational during this time. Four carparks will be closed to allow for the delivery of materials.

The Council has secured funding to complete this work as part of the State Government's Algal Bloom Local Government Grants. We know this work will be welcomed by many in the community who have advocated for improved beach access from the car park. We look forward to reopening access once the work has been completed.
