We were absolutely thrilled to bits to be visited by acclaimed English actress Miriam Margoyles. Miriam met up with Tracey, one of our staunchest library members who read some 'Harry Potter' in Braille to mark the occasion.
After a delightful afternoon tea, Miriam then came up to the Vision Australia Radio studios to chat about her love of Charles Dickens, her work and becoming an Australian citizen.
You can hear this interview on 'Hear This', the Library radio show on January 9th

Our second farewell is to the wonderful staff at the Christian Blind Mission Library (CBM), who have been supplying audio material for nearly 40 years. We know that all of their clients will greatly miss the periodicals and devotionals that CBM made available over these years. Vision Australia Library will continue to provide the Christian talking books in Daisy, so please let us know if you would like to know more about this collection. Pictured are Stephanie, Ross and Phil from the CBM Library. We thank them, we will miss them and they will always be 'Honorary Members' of the Readers Services team

As 2014 draws to a close we have a couple of farewells and best wishes to pass on. Stuart Clifford has been a member of our Reader Services Team for 7 years and leaves us to begin a new chapter of his life moving to Singapore. We wish him, Sharon and the family all the best and thank him for all the humour, courtesy and support he has given us over the years.

Well its Friday and here we are a week into November. Just where has the year gone? One of our Library members came in today with a beautiful bunch of roses handpicked from her garden, which brightened our day considerably. A big thankyou to Leonie and have a great weekend everyone *smile*

Australian author Morris Lurie also passed away this month.
Known for his acerbic wit and sharp obversational skills he was an expert at the art of short story writing with his work appearing in 'The New Yorker' and other prestigious Literary journals. We have quite a few of his short story collections in Braille and audio, and also his autobiography 'whole Life' in which he tells of growing up in a Jewish family in Carlton in the 40's.
Here is the list from our catalogue:
