We're delighted that a classic book from our local area has made the ABC's list of the Top 100 Australian Books. Alan Marshall's I Can Jump Puddles came in at number 37 in the nation-wide vote, celebrating one of Australia's most loved stories.

First published in 1955, the autobiographical novel tells the story of Marshall's childhood after contracting polio, and his determination to embrace life despite the challenges he faced.

The book has a strong local connection. Alan Marshall was born in Noorat in 1902 and was educated in Terang. The story draws heavily on his experiences growing up in the district, with many of the people and places in the book inspired by real locations and characters from the Noorat and Terang area.

If you'd like to discover or revisit this Australian classic, you can find I Can Jump Puddles in our library catalogue: https://www.cmlibraries.com.au/Borrow/Catalogue
