430 Squadron AAFC Dining-In Night
On Saturday, 24 October, 430 Squadron AAFC held their annual Dining In Night at the Kyneton RSL. The dinner was attended by over 60 cadets together with staff members and guests from the Kyneton RSL. Proceedings began with marching in the squadron banner. This was followed by loyal toasts including to King Charles III, the RAAF and 430 Squadron. The Commanding Officer of the squadron, Pilot Officer Hayley Matthews gave an overview of the cadets’ activities throughout the year and following the meal, the President of the Kyneton RSL, Mr Mike Gretton, was invited to address the cadets. He spoke of the decisions he had made that had shaped his life and expressed the hope that the decisions they made would also shape their lives accordingly.

RSL Active fishing day

Clear blue skies and balmy temperatures greeted our anglers as a handful of veterans joined about 300 other people out to get a bite. The RSL Active event was, again, held in conjunction with the Kyneton Angling Club’s annual Open Day. This year’s event was held at the Upper Coliban Reservoir but due to overflow conditions, people were restricted to fishing from the shore. The angling club provided a free barbecue and a free ice cream was given out to veterans. However, the best part of the day was the fact that some people actually caught a fish. A big thank you to the Kyneton Angling Club for once again for organising the day and allowing the Kyneton RSL to join in.
