St John Ambulance Lancelin & Coastal Districts St John Ambulance is looking for new volunteers. If you’ve ever thought about helping your community, now is the perfect time.

📅 Saturday 26 September

🕙 10am–12pm

📍Atkinson Way Subcentre Lancelin

Our volunteers will be on hand to show you around, the Ambulance depot and the resources we have, answer questions, and chat about what is required to be part of the team. And yes, there’ll be a sausage sizzle running too.

With an increasing and ageing local population, our subcentre is one of the busiest in the region, attending over 400 calls per year. A small group of dedicated volunteers currently provides a 24/7, 365‑day ambulance service for Wedge Island, Ocean Farms, Lancelin, Seaview Estate, Ledge Point, Seabird and surrounding areas.

No medical experience is needed. Volunteers progress through structured training with constant support from senior officers and our Community Paramedic. Ambulances are crewed by two volunteers, you’ll never be alone on a job.

What’s required:

Ability to train once per fortnight

Availability to respond to ambulance jobs

Unrestricted driver’s licence

Most jobs involve transport to Perth hospitals and take around four hours. You don’t need to sit at the depot, just be available when called.

WA Police clearance

What you gain:

A friendly, supportive team, occasional BBQs, real skills, confidence, and the reward of helping people at their most vulnerable.

Come down, say hello, grab a sausage, and see if volunteering might be for you.

The SJA Lancelin crew & the Nurses from the Lancelin WA Country Health Service wish to extend sincere thanks to all of the bystanders in Harold Park today who assisted the unwell patient. Your extremely quick actions made a difference to the patients outcome.

We did not get a chance to thank any of you, but you all did an incredible job.

Knowledge of the locations of the local Defib units can be life saving. We urge you to download the St John Ambulance First Responder App which clearly shows where all of the units are in the town and statewide.

Yesterday our sub centre had the privilege of hosting more than 40 cadets, aged between 13 and 17, from the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club.

The aim of the session was to give the cadets a deeper understanding of emergency response from a St Johns perspective, while strengthening interagency teamwork and communication.

We started the day with an informal chat about how a 000 call is handled from the start until the ambulance is despatched. We then talked about how our sub centre is run, followed by a tour of our training and storage facilities. Next they explored all of our road ambulances, our 4WD ambulance and mass casualty trailer, where they got to see our equipment, first aid supplies and medications.

Another fun activity was applying a combat torniquet to a severed limb.

An AED training simulator was setup so the kids could practice their CPR with live feedback.

The last session of the day was a competitive relay which involved the teams applying snake bite bandages, splints to broken limbs, slings to broken arms, administering Ventolin to a patient having an asthma attack and lots more. This was a lot of fun.

We finished the day with a sausage sizzle.

The St John volunteers and Community Paramedic really enjoyed hosting the CSLSC.

2025 LANCRLIN EMERGENCY SERVICES CHRISTMAS PARTY

On Saturday evening Lancelin community emergency services agencies joined together to celebrate the year. Members and volunteers (past and present) from all services and community groups enjoyed an evening of yummy food, fun games and lots of very sweet prizes. Close to 90 people attended the evening and what was noted by many was the number of young families/children in attendance, and how much fun the kids had. Thanks to all involved in putting the evening together.
