Lest we forget.
Today we pause to honour all who have served, and those who continue to serve in defence of our nation.
Their courage, commitment and sacrifice have shaped the freedoms we cherish today.
As part of Australia’s aviation and defence community, we remember their legacy and salute the spirit of service that continues to inspire us all.
We will remember them.

They shall grow not old,
as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them,
nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun
and in the morning
We will remember them.

While preparing for the reading, Cpl Smith has reflected on the stories of those who have come before him, including his great uncle who fought at Shaggy Ridge as a 20 year old during the Second World War.
