Violence has no place in political office or public life. Those who hold public office have a responsibility to set an example through respectful debate, responsible leadership and accountability.

Political disagreement is part of democracy, but threats, intimidation and violence undermine the very principles that democratic institutions are meant to uphold.

✅ A huge moment at the City of Launceston

The need for stronger transparency reforms was being discussed as far back as late 2024.

Over recent months, l’ve advocated for action, put forward my Ethics & Integrity Reform Plan, and shared it with all sitting Councillors, the Deputy Mayor, Mayor and candidates in the upcoming election.

Today, seeing the Register of Interests move forward is a very positive step.

There is still much more to do to rebuild community trust, but progress happens when people put ideas on the table and work together to deliver them.

That’s the approach I want to bring to Council, working as a team to move the needle on our economy, jobs, housing and a more vibrant Launceston.

A great start. Now, let’s keep building on it.
