📣 REMINDER 📣

💧 How would you reduce flood risk and drainage issues in the Leeton Shire? 💧

Leeton Shire Council are seeking suggestions for ways to improve flooding and drainage in Leeton, Yanco, Murrami, Whitton and Wamoon.

Residents of these areas have until the end of tomorrow to contribute to the Flood Risk Management Study and Plan by completing the below questionnaire to share flood experiences and opinions on flood management options.

We need your input to identify areas where improvements are needed, and gather your suggestions for the mitigation measures you would like to investigate. These could include channel modifications, pipe upgrades, new pumps, basins or levees.

We are also interested in non-engineering options, such as improving community flood awareness, warning systems, emergency management and land use planning.

🗺️ Visit https://bit.ly/LSCFloodMapTool and select ‘Provide Feedback’ in the bottom-left corner of the screen, or drop by the Council office to pickup a questionnaire.

⏰ Consultation is open until tomorrow 31 October 2026.

🌿 W**d Watch: St John’s Wort 🌿

St John’s wort may look attractive with its bright yellow flowers, but it can cause serious problems for local landholders and livestock. This invasive w**d competes with pastures, reduces property productivity, can affect wool quality, and contains a toxin that makes livestock highly sensitive to sunlight if consumed.

Flowering from late October through summer, St John’s wort is easiest to identify by its bright yellow flowers and leaves that appear to have tiny holes when held up to the light.

If you spot St John’s wort on your property, take action early to help protect our agricultural land and livestock.
