After years of wondering what a no named persion problem was with kids walking threw the old pound reserve, now i know. After doing some volunteer work in the reserve for the past 5 years, i just feel like give up. What's the point? I'm just going to say it bluntly. I don't care if i offend you or your privileged kids. For the past year or so some kids have been building bike tracks in the reserve, destroying the plant and life. Who cares. Who gives a. Are just a few of the comments from some of the viewers of this group. This Area of the reserve is one of two left in lilydale where you will find these 2 gums growing. Not to mention a orchard that is only found in this reserve. If it's destroyed that it's. It's gone added to the extinct list. Not that these kids and parents care at all. The shire has put up builders fencing with a sign saying do not build bike tracks in the reserve. But yet again some kid was in their tonight with a shovel building jumps.
There's a idea if it's good enough for your kids to build bike tracks in a public nature reserve. Yes nature reserve.
How about i come and dig up ur front garden and see how pi**ed off you get?
If you don't know the difference between a nature reserve and public park. Then google it.

What’s wrong with people today? When the shire plants natives in a reserve they do it to make the local area look nice for us all. But most of all for the local animals and birds. So why do some people like it’s ok to come and help them self’s to the plants. You know who you are and shame on you. All the small holes used to have plants in them.
Someone on here said I should contact vets for wildlife and have to kangaroos relocated to a safe area for them. Do you think they are correct?
My opinion is: Why would I want to move them? The male roo has been coming to the reserve every year by himself in summer for the past 4 or 5 years. Now he has a family and I think it’s a great thing. Just remember this land was theirs before we came along. We should be respecting the native animal’s and should be protecting where they live.
If you walk your dog in the Old Pound Reserve. Please leave it on its dog lead. A family of 5 Kangaroos is now living in the middle of the treed area. One larger and 4 other smaller ones. They seem nice enought but, better to be safe than sorry.

This dead hedging doesn't just ensure a natural way of recycling our green waste, it also provides habitat for all kinds of creatures such as (stag) beetles, small rodents, birds and hedgehogs. As the branches at the bottom deteriorate, new ones will be put along the top as and when pruning work in the garden is done. Even in smaller gardens dead hedging can save lots of trips to the recycling centre and provide wonderful habitat.

Shame about this vandalism, this area used to be full of wild flowers in summer. See last few images of the wild flowers. Vandalism done by a few local kids / teens on electric bikes.
