🚨🦺🧑‍🚒What a night! 🦺🧑‍🚒🚨

Yesterday was a fantastic night of community, connection and emergency preparedness, and we loved seeing so many people come along and get involved at Light up the Night, Lismore 🧡

A special mention has to go to Paddy the Platypus 🦺and Captain Koala 🧑‍🚒, who came along for the night!

Our VICSES volunteers were also there sharing information, answering questions and helping our community understand how they can prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along, chatted with our volunteers and supported the night. And of course, thank you to Paddy and Captain Koala for being such great ambassadors for staying safe and looking out for our community! 🧡

🌳 Tree Down 🌳

Today the unit got dispatched to a tree down blocking the road in Dereel.

Members arrived on scene to find a large gum tree completely blocking the road.

🪚 Well done to our members for clearing the road and allowing safe access again

〰️ Brown’s Waterhole footbridge 〰️

Today we attended the Brown’s Waterhole Footbridge opening in Lismore. We assisted with providing power for morning tea and it gave us the opportunity to show off our Units Support Vehicle and Lighting Trailer.

👏 Thank you Corangamite Shire Council for having us! Lucky the rain stayed away for the duration of the ceremony.

〰️ We also turned out to a Road Accident Incident this afternoon, where we were cancelled on route due to no occupants being trapped. We hope everyone is recovering well.

Last night we got called to assist our fellow emergency services at a house fire. We were called to help provide lighting to ensure they could work safely and efficiently at the incident.

Last night our crew members attended four storm related jobs, involving fallen trees impacting road access.

Today we turn back the clock, on this day 25th May 2006, 20 years ago, in the thick fog a truck collided with a freight train at the Lismore-Skipton Road Level crossing resulting in a massive clean up effort which took several days.
