Meet Tej, Occupational Therapist here at Liverpool Hospital.

One experience that has stayed with Tej was supporting a community client who relied on a wheelchair and needed assistance from his partner every time he wanted to leave his home because of steps at the property.

After completing a ramp modification, the client's independence was transformed. He could safely access his home and community on his own, without relying on others for assistance.

"Seeing the impact of what seemed like a minor home modification reminded me how much allied health can change someone's life. The client's confidence, independence and happiness improved significantly, and it reinforced why I chose a career in allied health."

For Tej, moments like these highlight the powerful role Occupational Therapists play in helping people maintain their independence, participate in their communities and improve their quality of life.

"What inspires me is knowing that even small changes can have a lasting impact on a person's everyday life and wellbeing."

Thank you, Tej, for your dedication to helping people live more independently and safely in our community.

Congratulations to the Cardiovascular Stream and Liverpool Hospital for winning the Health Innovation Award at the 2026 South Western Sydney Local Health District Quality Awards.

Their project NOTIFY-HF was a patient-centred digital health initiative embedded within routine remote monitoring of patients with implantable cardiac defibrillators at Liverpool Hospital. These devices are equipped with an established heart failure detection algorithm called HeartLogic. It gave patients access to device alerts identifying early deterioration.
