🏊‍♀️💦 SENIOR SWIMMING CARNIVAL – IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FAMILIES 💦🏊‍♂️

Our Senior Swimming Carnival is coming up next Thursday, 29 October 2026, at the Mackay Aquatic & Recreation Centre, and we’re looking forward to a fantastic day of participation, house spirit and Westie pride! 💙💛

Before the big day, we ask all families to please take note of two important arrangements.

🍔 CANTEEN FACILITIES – PARENTS ONLY

Students will NOT be permitted to use the canteen facilities at the Mackay Aquatic Centre during the carnival.

Parents and carers may purchase items from the canteen for their own consumption only. Please do not purchase food, drinks or other items for students.

We experienced instances last year of students approaching other children’s parents and asking them to purchase canteen items on their behalf. This practice is STRICTLY PROHIBITED and we appreciate the support of all families in ensuring this expectation is followed.

👨‍👩‍👧 STUDENT COLLECTION – IMPORTANT REMINDER

For the safety of every child, students may only be collected by their own parent, unless written authorisation has been provided by the parent of the child concerned.

We are unable to release students into the care of another adult without this written authorisation. We appreciate your understanding that these procedures are essential to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all our students.

💙💛 Thank you for helping us make the day safe, enjoyable and fair for everyone. Your cooperation and support make a real difference!

Be proud. Be kind. Be a Westie!

Mackay West State School\Always our Best. ⭐

Once a Westie, ALWAYS a Westie! 💙💛

There are some school traditions that simply stay with you — and our “Once a Westie, ALWAYS a Westie!” spirit is certainly one of them!

We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of some of our former Mackay West State School students, who are now at Mackay State High School and have just been named Opti-MINDS State Champions for the THIRD year in a row! 🏆

What makes this achievement even more special to us is knowing that these talented young people started their Opti-MINDS journey right here at Mackay West. From those early beginnings, they have continued to grow, challenge themselves, think creatively, work as a team and strive for excellence.

Their success is a wonderful reminder that the foundations for great things are often laid during those important primary school years — and it is fantastic to see our former Westies continuing to shine and make their schools and community so proud.

To our former students — we couldn't be prouder of you! Your dedication, teamwork, creativity and determination have taken you all the way to the top, and we are absolutely thrilled to see what you are achieving.

Congratulations on an extraordinary three consecutive State Championships!🏆🏆🏆

Small beginnings… BIG dreams!

Once a Westie, ALWAYS a Westie! 💙💛

🌱🌿 GROWING GOOD THINGS IN OUR GARDEN CLUB!🍍🌻

Our avid gardeners are certainly looking the part — and they have every reason to be proud of their efforts! 💚👩‍🌾👨‍🌾

Our Garden Club students have been busy getting their hands dirty, caring for their plants and watching their hard work literally blossom. From healthy plants and happy gardens to some particularly impressive pineapples, there is plenty to celebrate! 🍍✨

We love seeing our students learning about growing, caring and nurturing — while developing healthy minds, healthy habits and a wonderful appreciation for the world around them.

A huge thank you to our amazing Garden Club for the time, care and dedication you put into making our school gardens grow. 🌱💚

Small hands… BIG green dreams! 🌿🌻
Keep growing, Mackay West! 💙💛
