Summer preparedness drills. Draughting from a static water supply as well as a few members updating their BA skills maintenance.
Also making sure we know how to operate each other's appliances as you may not necessarily end up working with your Brigades appliance!
Thanks once again to members from Cann Valley Fire Brigade for travelling to Mallacoota for training.

🚒🌊 Vols on Hols is Returning to Mallacoota! 🌊🚒

Planning a getaway to Victoria's far east? If Mallacoota is on your itinerary, why not bring your CFA volunteering spirit along with you?

Vols on Hols is returning to Mallacoota Fire Brigade, giving visiting CFA volunteers the opportunity to connect with our members, experience firefighting in one of Victoria's most unique coastal communities, and, where appropriate, turn out with our brigade while enjoying a well-earned holiday.

Whether you're staying for a few days, a few weeks, or longer, we'd love to welcome fellow volunteers to our station. It's a great opportunity to meet new people, share experiences, learn from another brigade, and remain connected to the CFA family while away from home.

Mallacoota is known for its stunning wilderness, pristine beaches and strong community spirit. Through Vols on Hols, visiting members can experience all that our beautiful region has to offer while contributing to the safety and resilience of the local community.

If you're heading to Mallacoota this holiday season and would like to get involved, Click on the link to register:

Training Tonight, Prepared Tomorrow🚒

There’s no substitute for regular brigade training when it comes to maintaining and sharpening the skills we rely on during emergency responses.

Recently, we had the opportunity to join the Mallacoota Fire Brigade training night and see firsthand how effective short, focused mid-week sessions can be. These training activities allow members to regularly refresh core skills, build confidence, and strengthen teamwork without requiring a full-day commitment.

As we head into the High-Risk Weather Season (HRWS), staying current with our skills and procedures is more important than ever. But the value of training extends well beyond the fire season. Whether responding to bushfires, rescues, or other emergencies throughout the year, regular practice ensures we're ready when our communities need us most.

For Mallacoota FB, combining mid-week training nights with longer, more in-depth sessions on alternate weekends provides a balanced approach that keeps members engaged, competent, and operationally prepared.

A big thank you to the members of Mallacoota FB for having us along and for demonstrating the benefits of consistent, practical training. Every drill, every scenario, and every conversation helps build a safer and more capable brigade.

Yesterday afternoon Mallacoota Fire Brigade was paged to a burnoff out of control at Maramingo.
The fire had spread onto the neighbours private land and into the State Forest.
We had appliances from Mallacoota, Cann Valley, Bemm River, Merimbula and FFMVic on scene.
Thankfully the prevailing conditions were quite begnine. FFMVic were able to put a containment line around the fire and will monitor it today.
The Mallacoota Tanker scored a punctured tyre just to add something else to the evening. A huge thank you to Kade from Tyrepower who trekked out to come replace the tyre for us well and truly out of hours.
Please, do not leave your burn unattended. Conditions are drying and things can get out of hand quicker than you expect.

So it's that time of year again. It's pretty dry out there as we have seen over the weekend with people's burnoffs escaping and causing a real concern.🔥
As we have only eight operational firefighters, we'll need you to help us help you for the upcoming fire period.
What can you do to help? 🤔

✅️ take all your prunings and rubbish to the tip
✅️ cut back the trees and shrubs close to your house
✅️ remove all the 'stuff' up against your house
✅️ clean out your gutters
✅️ keep the lawn mown

If you are deciding to do a burnoff, please check the weather not only for the day of the burn, but the following day as well and make sure it is safe to do so. Register your burn 1800 668 511.
Stay safe and look out for one and other.

Training on Saturday was giving our mates at the Bunker Museum a hand to reduce the fuel load around the Bunker grounds.
With the help of SES Mallacoota Unit, Cann Valley Fire Brigade, Bunker Museum volunteers and members from the Genoa Community group, we had a good tidy up. The heaps burnt very well which was indicative of how things are drying out.
A lovely lunch and afternoon tea was supplied by the Museum vols.
Thank you to everyone that assisted on the day. 🚒🔥
