We’re happy to share that 112 groups are receiving a disability self help grant! 👏 The recipients will have a share in $1.1 million in funding. Woohoo!

Disability self help groups provide valuable peer support for people with disability, their families and carers. They boost social connection, mental health and wellbeing.

The grants will support:

✴️ 35 groups from regional and rural areas
✴️ 30 autistic and neurodivergent groups
✴️ 20 multicultural community groups
✴️ and more groups supporting women and girls, LGBTIQA+ people and First Nations people.
These groups play an important role in supporting people with disability to live satisfying everyday lives.

📅 When will the NDIS funding cuts affect you?

The changes are being introduced in stages.

🔹 From 1 October 2026: Relevant new and reassessed plans.
🔹 From 1 February 2027: Relevant renewed plans.
🔹 By October 2027: The government intends for all relevant plans to be affected.

The reductions cannot be applied halfway through an existing plan.

These dates apply to old framework plans.

Every Australian Counts has called for participants to receive clear information before funding changes affect their supports.

Nobody should be left trying to understand a major funding change after it happens.

Changes to some NDIS support budgets are now in effect.

The changes will reduce budgets for Social, Economic and Community Participation and Improved Daily Living Skills when:

📅 a new plan is created (from October 2026)

📅 a plan is reassessed (from October 2026 to September 2027)

📅 a plan is renewed (from February 2027 to September 2027).

If your current plan end date is after 30 September 2027, it will be brought forward. We’ll give you at least 60 days’ notice if we do this.

The support budget reductions don’t apply to new framework plans.
