🌟 The Zone Wellbeing Program 🌟

Our Year 7 and 8 students have been building confidence, resilience, teamwork and emotional wellbeing through a range of experiences embedded into our Wellbeing Program during scheduled English lessons.

🥊 Year 7 & Year 8 – Mick Axford’s Boxing Gym
Students pushed themselves through a challenging boxing session, demonstrating discipline, resilience and perseverance. They left feeling proud and absolutely buzzing! Mick, Annette and Tarsh were full of praise for their respectful and determined attitude.
💬 “The boxing excursion taught us discipline and skills.”
💬 “It was a fun, new experience!”

🐾 Year 7 - Mareeba Animal Refuge
Students walked and socialised dogs, washed puppies preparing for Adoption Day, and played with cats and kittens. They developed responsibility, teamwork, confidence and compassion, proudly representing MSHS throughout the visit. Year 8s are scheduled to visit in Term 4.
💬 “The puppies were so cute!”
💬 “That was so much fun, I wish we could take them home!”
🧠 Social & Emotional Learning

During English lessons, Ms Emma (Social Worker) and Ms Bek (Guidance Officer) support students to develop skills in emotional regulation, communication, self-awareness, resilience and positive decision-making.

These experiences give students opportunities to learn, connect, challenge themselves and grow - inside and outside the classroom. 💙

🫶A huge thank you to Boxing Instructors Mick, Annette and Tarsh, and the team at the Mareeba Animal Refuge – you all volunteered your time and demonstrated care and consideration for our students.

We look forward to seeing you again in Term 4!
