A huge thank you to everyone who came along to Peter Sheahan's Walk Up Charity Music Show yesterday in support of Marong Fire Brigade!

A special mention to Tania, who played in the band and helped organise the day, Captain Steve for his speech on behalf of the brigade, and everyone who performed, donated and attended. Your generosity helped raise a whopping $926 for the brigade!

Thank you to The Bendigo Club and everyone involved in putting on such a great community event. We're grateful for the ongoing support.

A big thank you to Fosterville Gold Mine for their continued support of Marong Fire Brigade through the Community Grants Program. The new thermal imaging camera and upgraded firefighting branches are already making a real difference for our volunteers, helping us train and respond more safely and effectively for our community.

A little late, but we are proud to share that we were successful in receiving funding through the Fosterville Gold Mine Community Grants Program.

The grant has enabled us to purchase a new set of Protek firefighting branches (nozzles), providing our firefighters with modern, reliable equipment to help us respond safely and effectively to emergencies.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Fosterville Gold Mine for their continued support of community organisations like ours. Their ongoing investment in local volunteer emergency services helps ensure we have the equipment needed to protect and serve our community.

This is not the first time Fosterville has supported our brigade, and we are incredibly grateful for their ongoing commitment to strengthening emergency response capabilities across our region.

Lieutenant Andrew Jochs and Community Safety Coordinator Peter Bryar were proud to attend the grant presentation ceremony in May to accept the funding on behalf of the brigade. It was fantastic to hear the stories of the many other local community groups and learn about the projects they will be delivering with the support of the grants.

Thank you once again for your continued support and for helping us keep Marong and the surrounding communities safe. 🚒👏

A big round of applause for the first round recipients of the 2026 Fosterville Gold Mine Community Grants program 👏

From sporting clubs and schools to volunteer groups and community organisations, this round of funding will help support a range of local projects across the region.

We’re proud to back initiatives that help create stronger, safer and more connected communities 💛

You may see our volunteers out and about in the streets of Marong this morning, don’t worry, nothing’s wrong!

Our members are conducting routine checks of local fire plugs (hydrants) to make sure they are clearly marked, easy to locate, and accessible in the event of an emergency. As you can see in the images, sometimes marker posts can be damaged or hydrants can become hidden by grass or vegetation.

In an emergency, every second counts, so making sure our water supply points are easy to find and use is a really important job.

If you notice a damaged marker post or a hydrant that’s hard to see, feel free to let us know 👍 You can report issues directly to us https://forms.cloud.microsoft/r/Hs6g90BWcg
