Call Directions Website

NSW SES Randwick Unit NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is the combat agency for flood, storm & tsunami. We also have members trained to conduct flood rescues from land and in water.

NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community. We are a volunteer-based organisation that provides emergency assistance to the people of NSW 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. It is the approximately 9,000 volunteers across the state that make this possible. NSW SES Volunteers come from all walks of life, bringing with them many different skills, interests and backgrounds. They are united by the purpose of supporting their communities in times of need. While our major responsibilities are for flood and storm emergencies, NSW SES also provides the majority of general rescue effort in the rural parts of the state. This includes:

Road accident rescue
Vertical rescue
Bush search and rescue
Evidence searches (both metropolitan and rural) and other forms of specialist rescue that may be required due to local threats. Volunteers in a number of isolated communities have been trained as Community First Responders by the Ambulance Service of NSW. The organisations trained rescuers also support the full-time emergency services during major disasters. NSW SES also assists other emergency services when they are performing major operations. These services include the NSW Police Force, the NSW Rural Fire Service, Fire and Rescue NSW and the Ambulance Service of NSW. Members of the Randwick Unit are regularly involved with storm and water damage operations. We can also be called upon to perform land search operations as well as urban search and rescue, in support of NSW Police Force and Fire & Rescue NSW. If you require emergency assistance due to storm or flood, call NSW SES on 132 500. In life threatening emergencies, call 000.

This long weekend weโ€™re expecting severe thunderstorms, large hail, heavy rainfall and damaging winds across parts of the state from this evening into Sunday.

Severe thunderstorms are possible across the Central West, South Coast, Illawarra and Sydney from today through to Sunday, before moving northeast early next week.

Thunderstorms could bring flash flooding, damaging winds, and large hail, with heavy rainfall reaching up to 100mm in some areas. Minor flooding is also possible across state river systems.

Residents in the forecast areas should be prepared and follow safety advice:

๐Ÿ”ธClear your drains and gutters
๐Ÿ”ธTrim back overhanging trees or branches
๐Ÿ”ธTie down loose items
๐Ÿ”ธIf you come across a flooded road, steer clear and find an alternative route

๐Ÿ“ฒ Download Hazards Near Me to stay across warnings and if youโ€™re going away, ensure you check the weather at both your destination and at home.
