COMMUNITY EVENTS
Saint Martin`s Day, traditionally enjoyed on 11 November, marks the end of harvest season with games, dances and markets celebrating the abundance of the harvest.
This celebration originates in the Catholic Church in honor of Saint Martin of Tours, a Roman solder who became a bishop. A famous story recounts him cutting his cloak in half in order to share it with a beggar during snowstorm.
This year, for the first time, VodaFest - Czech and Slovak Association Inc. in collaboration with the Catholic centre in Sumava Peksa Park in Belgrave South, are hosting this significant event in our cultural calendar for the Czech and Slovak community to enjoy.

As dawn breaks over Sydney, the sails of the iconic Sydney Opera House are bathed in a sea of red poppies, as the Last Post resonates across the harbour, inspiring us to pause and reflect on the bravery, strength and selflessness of those who have served, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our nation.

Today we commemorate 107 years since the founding of independent Czechoslovakia 🇨🇿.
28 October reminds us that freedom and national sovereignty are not a given.
They are the result of courage, unity, and a belief in the values on which our modern state is built.
