LOOK: The Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne sent a team led by Consul Jan Wenceslao accompanied by MWO-Canberra LabAtt Melissa Mendizabal for an outreach in Hobart and Launceston, assisting over 60 Filipinos in Tasmania. This also marks the first time that the Consulate delivered services in Launceston.

Dear Kababayan:

October brings the 82nd anniversary of the Battle of Leyte Gulf, the largest naval battle in history, which was also a decisive turning point of the Pacific theatre of the Second World War. The battle had allied servicemen, including Australian and Victorian servicemen, among its participants, and eventually led to the liberation of the Philippines from foreign rule.

In this regard, we are pleased to note that the Shrine of Remembrance will be holding a commemorative service for the Battle of Leyte Gulf this Saturday, 24 October, at 11:00AM, within the Shrine Sanctuary. The programme will have two parts:

Part 1: Ceremony at the Sanctuary, 11:00AM
Part 2: Ceremony at the Dedicated Tree: 11:35AM

While seats at the Sanctuary may be limited, there will be plenty of space for everyone at the dedicated tree.

Your presence in this commemoration would be greatly appreciated as we remember those who served and who lost their lives to fight for the world that we have today.

LOOK: A team from COMELEC-OFOV led by no less than Commissioner Aimee P. Ferolino conducted a one-day voters registration event culminating in a Town Hall meeting where Filipino community leaders were given the latest updates on Overseas Voting practices. Joining Consul General Jesus R.S. Domingo was Ambassador Antonio A. Morales, who also took the time to address the community and support COMELEC in this initiative.

To All Interested Parties:

Please be notified that the Resident Election Registration Board (RERB) of the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne, Australia will convene at Conference Room, Level 10, 257 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000, Australia on 19 October 2026 at 3:00 PM to hear the applications for registration, certification, reactivation, correction of entries or change of name, change of address, transfer, recapture and other types of applications filed with the Post from 01 July 2026 to 30 September 2026.

Any interested party who would like to interpose any objection to the list may file their opposition in writing addressed to the RERB of the Philippine Consulate General in Melbourne, Level 10, 257 Collins Street, Melbourne, VIC 3000, Australia.

The written opposition may be filed via email to [email protected].

The last day to file oppositions is on 12 October 2026.

LOOK: The Filipino-owned and operated Victoria International Container Terminal is expanding once more! Consul General Gary Domingo joins VICT CEO Bruno Porchietto and Port of Melbourne CEO Saul Cannon and Bildgroup CEO Stephen Hill in the ceremonial groundbreaking of Phase 3B of VICT’s expansion.

VICT is currently the largest container terminal in the Port of Melbourne by market share.
