Pride Month is a time to celebrate LGBTIQA+ communities and recognise the ongoing work needed to build a more inclusive and welcoming place for all.

As part of this, we’re developing our first LGBTIQA+ Action Plan, turning our commitment into action. Thank you to everyone in our community who shared feedback. Your voices are helping shape the plan as we move towards finalising it.

This Pride, we’re proud to be taking steps forward together. Let’s keep listening, learning and supporting one another to create a community where everyone feels they belong.

Today is World Ocean Day 🌊🌏

The ocean plays a vital role in keeping our planet healthy.

✅ It helps keep the Earth cool by absorbing heat and carbon from the air.
✅ Tiny ocean plants produce about half the oxygen we breathe.
✅ The ocean supports wildlife, connects countries and keeps natural systems working.

What we do on land matters. Rubbish, chemicals and paint can wash into drains, flow into rivers and end up in the ocean harming marine life and habitats.

You can help by using less plastic, putting rubbish in bins and never pouring chemicals, oil or paint down drains.

🍜 A world of flavours at Springvale Winter Fest ❄️

Springvale is set to come alive with street eats, hidden gems and bold flavours from across the world.

Our Customer Service Centres and Keysborough Community Hub will be closed on Monday 8 June due to the King's Birthday public holiday.

The next Social Supermarket will be held on Tuesday 16 June from 12.30pm-2.30pm at the Springvale Learning and Activities Centre (1 Osborne Avenue, Springvale) for Springvale residents. This program provides free food to residents in need.

👉 A confirmation email and an allocated time slot will be sent to you the day after registrations close

This program is run by Springvale Learning & Activities Centre (SLAC) in partnership with Greater Dandenong City Council, and proudly supported by the Victorian Government.

Morning tea and free hearing tests for seniors📣☕

The LiveUp Healthy Ageing Morning Tea and Information Session will be held on Friday 12 June from 10am-11am at the Springvale Community Hub.

A guest presenter from LiveUp will be there to show you how to use the LiveUp website, which is a free service funded by the Australian Department of Health and Aged Care that offers helpful resources for older Australians.

Hearing Australia will also be at the event, offering free hearing tests.

Play in the Plaza is running every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday until 27 June, from 10am–2.30pm at Palm Plaza, Dandenong.

Great news for Greater Dandenong residents 🚗

From today, Monday 1 June, eligible Victorians can apply for a 20% rebate on their vehicle registration through Service Victoria.

Applications are open until 31 July 2026 and can be completed online via the Service Victoria website or app.

National Reconciliation Week is a time to reflect on our shared histories, learn from one another and recommit to reconciliation and justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Through the launch of our Third Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2026–28, Greater Dandenong City Council is strengthening Cultural awareness, building Culturally safe workplaces, and valuing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures, beliefs and Traditions so everyone is treated with respect, dignity and equality.

Today is National Sorry Day. It's a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations Survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation.

Greater Dandenong City Council is committed to listening, learning and walking alongside First Nations people in the spirit of reconciliation.

We're proud to mark National Reconciliation Week 2026 (27 May–3 June) with the launch of our Third Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan 2026–28.

You're invited to join us at Harmony Square, Dandenong, on Wednesday 27 May from 10.30am to 1pm for this important occasion.

The launch will include a Welcome to Country by Bunurong Elder Uncle Mark Brown, a Traditional Smoking Ceremony, Traditional dance and yidaki, and the inaugural City Flag Raising, led by the Mayor and Bunurong Elders, officially marking the start of National Reconciliation Week.

This year’s theme, “All In”, reminds us that reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires effort, learning and action from all of us.
