Indo Australian Welfare Club (Regd) organised a bus trip to Emerald Lake Park on 20th September 2026

A group of 57 of our members headed out together for a picnic and it turned out to be such a fun day. Lots of laughter, catching up, delicious food, Bhangra and Bollywood dancing and of course, a few exciting rounds of Tombola!

Thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so enjoyable. It was great to see everyone having a good time and enjoying each other’s company.

A day well spent with wonderful people and some great memories made! ❤️😊

The Indo Australian Welfare Club would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to all the brothers and sisters, youth and children who attended the event on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day of India on 15 August 2026 which was held at Merrifield Recreational Ground and attended by close to 100 people .

**Special thanks to Guest of Honour for the event The Honourable Mr. Basem Abdo MP (Australian Government), who graced the event with his presence and important speech.
We would also like to thank
Hume City Council: Cr Ally Watson Deputy Mayor , Yubup Ward, Hume City Council who was unable to attend but conveyed her message and sent her Independence Day greetings and best wishes to the entire community .

​📋 Highlights of the event:
​Flag Ceremony: The flag was hoisted by the chief guest Mr. Basem Abdo MP and senior leaders of the club, after which the national anthems of India and Australia were sung.
Patriotic songs were sung and a wonderful bhangra performance by the kids added colour.

🌟 Big Success: Another Major Step for the Safety of Our Elderly! 🌟

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh. 🙏

Following up on our successful community meeting held at the Mickleham North Community Centre on 05/05/2026 regarding mischievous elements harassing our elderly in local parks, a highly crucial and serious workshop was organized today, 24/06/2026, by the Hume City Council and Victoria Police.

During this workshop, deep and meaningful discussions took place on this sensitive topic. The meeting was a resounding success, with high-level officials and key representatives sharing an administrative framework to resolve this problem smoothly and effectively.

Concrete policies were discussed to ensure long-term peace, security, and the safety of our respected elders in the area. With the continuous support of our local residents, our collective efforts are truly paying off. Our struggle to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone will continue.
