Gavin Park was named in recognition of the service given to Coburg by the Gavin family. Gavin Park And Westbreen Creek: Heritage Listed Location

Although its original character has been completely altered, the area is of local significance as an important parkland corridor in the north-west of the City of Moreland. It is a valuable site for recreational activities and will remain a local reminder of the extensive, nationwide public works program associated with the Bicentennial.
