The Libertarian Party are Australia's only party that champions the right of individuals to make decisions that best suit their families, connecting deeply with traditional Australian values. We believe in individualism, personal choice, and responsibility, prioritising personal values and interests over government intervention.

In New South Wales, the concept of "Castle Law" is rooted in Section 418 of the Crimes Act 1900, which provides a robust legal shield for those defending their homes. This law recognizes that you are not criminally responsible if you use force to protect yourself, your family, or your property from an intruder, provided your actions are a reasonable response to the situation as you perceive it.

The NSW Libertarians (formerly the Liberal Democrats) are staunch advocates for your right to live safely and securely. They believe that every citizen should have the inherent right to self-defence without fear of legal persecution. For the Libertarians, the home is a sanctuary where the law should always side with the victim, not the invader.

By championing stronger protections for homeowners, the NSW Libertarians support your right to use necessary force to stop a home invasion. They argue that when seconds count and help is minutes away, you must have the legal freedom to act. Your safety is paramount, and they stand with every resident’s right to defend their "castle."

If you keep wasting your vote with the black t-shirt crowd with a w**d on their shirts, who never actually win a seat, time to Vote 1 for a Party in Parliament, getting on with speaking common sense.
Time to stop the Police using stolen money to fly expensive helicopters over people's homes, looking for a w**d in their garden.
Is this what you expected to receive from all the taxes they make you pay?

A freedom-loving government would create incentives for everybody to take care of themselves.
That is what real fairness looks like.

Check out this analysis on two different investments.
One Dad invests in property, the other in a new business.

Start up business owners are being punished with a 47% tax while the property investor pays 32% tax.

This discourages business and investment and leads to an economically crippled future.

The solution? Reduce taxation for both of them!
A flat 20% on real profits seems like more than enough. If the government can't keep it's spending under control, then they don't deserve to be trusted with any more than that, surely.

E28: The Day of the Rum Rebellion The label Rum Rebellion was a smear dreamed up decades after the seismic events of 26 January 1808. Those dramatic events were not about rum. It was fight over what the future of NSW should be. For so

IPART has officially set the rate pegs for the 2026-27 financial year, establishing the maximum amount councils can automatically hike your rates. While the government calls this a "cap," it often acts as a guaranteed annual increase. Core rate pegs will range from 2.5% to 4.2%, but once population growth is factored in, some areas will see a total allowed increase of up to 5.7%.

These "standard" increases are designed to help councils keep pace with inflation and rising labor costs. However, they rarely account for internal waste or the quality of service provided. For many residents, seeing their rates rise by nearly 6% automatically - on top of a cost-of-living crisis - is a burden that local governments shouldn't be so quick to impose.

The Libertarian Party believes local government must stop treating ratepayers like a bottomless ATM. We stand for a back-to-basics approach: Roads, Rubbish, and Reducing Rates. Respecting the ratepayer means living within a sustainable budget and finding internal efficiencies before reaching for the maximum allowed hike. It is time to stop relying on automatic increases and start delivering essential services with genuine fiscal discipline.

LABOR’S “ATTACK ON WEALTH” IS REALLY AN ATTACK ON AUSTRALIA’S FUTURE.

The fallout from the Albanese–Chalmers Budget is now becoming impossible to ignore.

Investors are warning.
Entrepreneurs are warning.
Property developers are warning.
Markets are reacting.
Young Australians are furious.

And increasingly the rest of the world is looking at Australia as a country becoming openly hostile to ambition, investment and success.

Even major investors and business leaders are now warning Labor’s tax agenda risks:
❌ pushing capital offshore
❌ crushing entrepreneurship
❌ worsening the rental crisis
❌ damaging productivity
❌ weakening the ASX
❌ slowing housing construction
❌ trapping younger Australians in permanent financial insecurity

This is not some minor technical tax adjustment.

This is a massive ideological shift in how Australia treats wealth creation itself.

Labor is effectively telling Australians:
➡️ take risks and government takes more
➡️ build assets and become a target
➡️ invest for growth and Canberra punishes the upside
➡️ succeed and politicians accuse you of “inequality”

The consequences are already emerging.

Experts now warn the tax changes could:
📉 push investors away from growth companies and innovation
📉 entrench Australia as a low-growth, low-productivity economy
📉 reduce rental supply and send rents soaring
📉 freeze property transactions
📉 drive founders, startups and capital overseas

And who gets hurt most?

Not wealthy insiders protected by grandfathering rules.

It is younger Australians trying to:
🏠 buy a home
💰 build investments
🚀 start businesses
👨‍👩‍👧 raise families
📈 climb the ladder previous generations climbed

Labor claims this is about fairness.

But there is nothing fair about making aspiration harder for the next generation while government itself keeps getting larger, richer and more powerful every year.

Australia should be competing aggressively for:
✔️ entrepreneurs
✔️ engineers
✔️ startups
✔️ investors
✔️ AI talent
✔️ productive capital

Instead we are drifting toward becoming:
⛏️ a quarry for larger economies
📋 overregulated
💸 overtaxed
🧾 bureaucratic
📉 low-growth and debt-ridden

A country cannot redistribute prosperity it no longer creates.

Libertarians believe Australia’s future should belong to the people willing to build, invest, innovate and create prosperity — not to an ever-expanding political bureaucracy addicted to taxing success.

We need:
📉 lower taxes
🏗️ more housing supply
⚡ cheaper reliable energy
🚀 startup-friendly policies
💼 rewards for entrepreneurship
📋 less regulation
💰 globally competitive tax settings

Because prosperity is created by free people taking risks and building extraordinary things — not by Canberra punishing the people who do.

Australia deserves better than managed decline.

You might have noticed something on social media this week. Business owners across the country are introducing their new "silent partner." The Prime Minister.

The 2026 budget came for what's left of the money business owners take home after putting in the hours. Capital gains, family trusts, negative gearing, all hit at once. And bracket creep still running in the background, untouched.
The message is pretty clear. Take the risk, do the work, build something from nothing, and the government will be there at the end with its hand out.

These aren't the mega wealthy. They're tradies, cafe owners, consultants and sole traders. In Canberra, they're your neighbours. They might even be you.

Our approach is different: Reduce tax, reduce spending and cut red and green tape. We want to let people keep more of what they build.

If you run a business, how is this budget affecting you? Tell us in the comments.
