Tonight, the members of Caroline Springs Fire Brigade proudly light up our station blue in support of the fight against Motor Neurone Disease. 💙

As firefighters, we understand the importance of strength, resilience, teamwork, and standing beside our community during life’s toughest battles. Those same qualities are embodied by Neale Daniher, whose incredible courage and tireless commitment to raising awareness and funding for MND research has inspired Australians right across the country.

Neale’s determination has united communities, emergency services, sporting clubs, families, and workplaces in the fight for a cure — and tonight, we are honoured to stand alongside that cause.

From everyone at Caroline Springs Fire Brigade, thank you Neale for your extraordinary leadership, bravery, and legacy. Your fight continues to inspire us all.

Key Fire Safety Essentials
Fire is dangerous, but there’s a lot you can do to protect yourself, your family and your home.
1. Install and maintain smoke alarms:
Make sure you have working smoke alarms on every level of your home. Test them regularly and replace batteries and units as needed.
2. Identify and remove fire hazards:
Check for overloaded power boards, damaged cords, unattended candles, and clutter near heat sources.
Keep flammable items away from stoves, heaters and open flames.
3. Create and practice a home fire escape plan:
Plan at least two ways out of every room.
Choose a safe meeting place outside.
Practice the plan with everyone in the household.
4. If a fire occurs: get out, stay out, and call 000:
Never go back inside for belongings, instead go to your safe meeting place.

A fire in your home can be devastating, even deadly.
Once a fire starts, it can spread with incredible speed, putting you and the people you care about in immediate danger.
Taking simple steps now can make all the difference when every second counts.

Smoke Alarm Safety Tips
• Replace 9‑volt batteries every year.
If your smoke alarm uses a 9‑volt battery, change the battery annually and replace the entire unit every 10 years to a lithium powered unit.
• Install additional smoke alarms where needed.
Add alarms in all bedrooms and in areas where battery‑powered devices are charged to increase early warning coverage.
Consider getting hardwired, interconnected alarm's installed- when one goes off, they all go off.
• Clean your smoke alarms regularly.
Dust or gently vacuum around the outside of the alarm’s cover to keep sensors clear and working properly.
• Pay attention to warning beeps.
If your smoke alarm emits a single, occasional beep, the battery may need replacing. If the beeping continues after changing the battery, the unit may be faulty and must be replaced.

Every decision on the road can make a difference. Slowing down, staying alert, giving others space and avoiding distractions all help keep our community safe.
Road trauma has a lasting impact on families, friends and first responders. This week is a chance for all of us to pause, reflect and make safer choices on our roads.
🛴 Helping little ones learn road safety?
The Atherstone Traffic School is a great place to build confidence on a bike or scooter in a safe, controlled environment.
With traffic lights, stop signs, pedestrian crossings and more, it mimics real road conditions while making learning fun. Just bring a bike, scooter or tricycle and a helmet.

Archie needs your help.

Did you know members of the CFA come across all walks of life?

Arch is an extraordinary young man who loves all things emergency service! He is a member of Sassafras-Ferny Creek Fire Brigade CFA and if quizzed, can tell you about any brigade in the metropolitan area!
Arch was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy at birth. Arch has an electric wheelchair which weighs 70+kg so he can’t travel in any car.
Arch is very reliant upon his modified vehicle to ensure he makes it to his day programs, swimming/ sport sessions, medical appointments, and many emergency service locations to ensure they’re all in working order.
After many breakdowns, a new engine, countless bumps and scratches and months in and out of the mechanics, Arch’s current car is on its last legs.
If you can, we would love your help to fundraise for a new Kia Carnival that can be modified to better suit his wheelchair specifications and emergency service duties.
