Over the past 24–48 hours, you’ve probably seen these two images circulating across Victoria.
The first shows Victoria’s Fire Danger Ratings for Friday 9 January.
The second breaks down the ratings by district — and for Central, we are just one point away from Catastrophic.
Let that sink in.
These images aren’t shared to create panic.
They are a warning.
A warning to the children of elderly parents.
A warning to those with livestock or pets at home.
And a warning to every person in our community to be ready.
This is not a scare tactic.
It’s not about running around cutting lawns, filling tanks, or signing up to the CFA.
This is about life.
Pack essentials. Gather important keepsakes. Ensure pets can be moved quickly. And most importantly — do not stay to defend.
Fire is unpredictable, even to the most experienced firefighters. Staying behind places you at risk and slows emergency response on what could be one of the most dangerous days of the season.
If there is one thing this page has taught this year, let it be this:
You will never win against fire by staying.
Please leave early. Please check on your neighbours.
Because Catastrophic means there is a real risk to life — and as volunteer firefighters, protecting our community is our highest priority.
Stay safe. Stay informed. Leave early.
