Roar! πŸ¦– Today is Dinosaur Day, and we are feeling a little "prehistoric" here at Hampton Park Community House Children’s Services!

Whether they fly like a Pterodactyl or stomp like a T-Rex, children have an amazing, natural fascination with these ancient giants. Dinosaurs are fantastic for sparking early imagination, encouraging curiosity, and exploring science through play.

We want to hear from you! πŸ‘‡ Parents, what is your child’s absolute favourite dinosaur? Drop a comment below and let us know if you have a little paleontologist at home! πŸ¦•

During Mother’s Day week, we were delighted to host a special Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea across our Kindergarten and OSHC programs.

It was wonderful to welcome so many mothers and special caregivers into our learning spaces to spend quality time with their children in a warm and welcoming environment. Families enjoyed sharing afternoon tea together, participating in activities, and creating special memories as part of the celebrations.

Our OSHC children proudly created beautiful handmade craft gifts for their mums, adding a thoughtful and personal touch to the occasion.

We also received lovely feedback from families, with many mothers sharing heartfelt comments and reflections on our feedback canvas and questionnaires in their home languages, helping us celebrate and include the diversity of our HPCH community.

Thank you to all the mothers, grandmothers, and special caregivers who joined us and continue to play such an important role in the lives of our children every day.

🐝 Celebrating Bee Day at Hampton Park Community House! 🐝

Our Kindergarten and OSHC programs recently buzzed with excitement as we celebrated Bee Day! The children dove into a fun, engaging day filled with a variety of bee-themed activities designed to spark curiosity and creativity.

Here is a look at what our little busy bees got up to:

🌟 Kindergarten Highlights

Group Time Discoveries: We explored fascinating facts about bees and their incredibly important role in nature and the environment. The room came alive as everyone joined in singing lively, interactive bee songs!

Yellow & Black Playdough: The children expressed their creativity by mixing vibrant yellow and black playdough to sculpt and shape their very own bees.

Sensory Slime: We whipped up bright, colourful slime, which was a massive hit for hands-on learning and sensory exploration.

🎨 OSHC Program Fun

Beehive Artwork: Our older children showed off their fantastic artistic skills with Bee Day colouring activities and detailed beehive artwork, demonstrating a wonderful understanding of bees and their natural habitats.

🧠 How This Supports Learning & Development:

These interactive experiences do so much more than just keep hands busy! They play a vital role in early childhood development by:

🌻 Building environmental knowledge about nature and why bees are so important.

🎨 Encouraging creativity and imagination through diverse arts and crafts.

πŸ’ͺ Supporting fine motor skills through pinching, shaping playdough, colouring, and crafting.

πŸ–οΈ Promoting sensory exploration through tactile slime making.

πŸ’¬ Developing communication and social skills during group discussions and shared team experiences.

A huge thank you to our wonderful educators and enthusiastic children for making Bee Day such a sweet success! 🍯✨

πŸŒΏπŸ“š Learning, Culture & Connection πŸ“šπŸŒΏ

We are proud to be part of the Best Start Partnership Program, supporting our team to embed Aboriginal culture into our daily programs and practices in meaningful, respectful, and authentic ways. πŸ’›

As part of our ongoing Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), we recently welcomed Holly and Jingyi to Hampton Park Community House. Their visit provided valuable guidance in strengthening our RAP goals and deepening our commitment to reconciliation and culturally responsive practice.

Holly and Jingyi continue to support the Aboriginal Best Start Program, helping us build knowledge, understanding, and inclusive learning experiences for children and families. 🀝

During their visit, they also introduced the Language Project, encouraging families to engage in reading, singing, and literacy-based activities at home. Families received information packs, letters, and literacy kits designed to support shared learning and meaningful family connections through storytelling. ✨

The literacy kits included beloved children’s books such as:
πŸ“– The Gruffalo
πŸ“– The Gruffalo's Child
πŸ“– Tiddalick the Frog Who Caused a Flood
πŸ“– The Very Hungry Caterpillar
πŸ“– We're Going on a Bear Hunt

Along with interactive toy sets to extend children’s learning through play. 🧸🌱

This wonderful initiative supports early literacy development, strengthens family engagement, and fosters a lifelong love of storytelling, culture, and learning together. πŸ’«
