Outer East Foodshare

🌟 Thank you to Bunnings Warehouse Australia Vermont South for their ongoing support for Outer East Foodshare. 🌟

Our volunteer Ian was very happy to collect a donation of mulch and fertiliser this week, which will help our new veggie gardens continue to thrive! Last week we collected the first harvest and shared it with our food relief partners. You can't get any fresher than that! 🥗🌿

We look forward to having more fresh green vegetables available in coming months.

🎉 Exciting news!

Outer East Foodshare have been awarded an $80,000 grant under the Victorian Government’s Food Relief Grants 2026-27! 👏 👏 👏

This grant will allow us to put a third refrigerated van on the road, and to focus on engaging with local food producers to continue our mission of redirecting surplus food to people who may otherwise go without.

We were happy to have a visit from Julie Buxton - Labor for Bayswater who shared this brilliant news with us!

Outer East Food Share in Wantirna does amazing work providing food to others in community.

Powered entirely by volunteers and a desire to help others, this community group is truly special, so it was great to get down and celebrate the $80,000 Victorian Government grant they’ve just been awarded to support this work and the expansion of their services.

We were honoured to talk to the childrens' classes at the local Mosque, Dawoodi Bohras in Forest Hill for World Food Day. Very grateful for their donation of over 400kg of pantry food and spices, plus each week they give us frozen Halal meals. We share a common belief of helping those in need of food and reducing food waste. Lots of great questions from the kids. Thanks for working with us

We showed Julie Buxton - Labor for Bayswater how much extra food we are now able to safely store thanks to the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing - VIC grant that enabled us to purchase a walkin coolroom. We can store fresh fruit, veg and dairy to share to food chatities over the whole week. With the weather warming it it's in constant use. Thanks so much.

Love to learn how to preserve fruits & veg in a natural, plastic free way? OEF is partnering with Coonara Community House to help people try the Fowlers Vacola natural method. All equipment has been generously donated to OEF so that surplus fruit and veg won't go to waste. Let's make best use of local seasonal produce.
