Devotees to the Devil will know I used to dabble in music journalism - specifically for the local hip hop scene. People don't seem to realise just how vibrant and diverse our scene is, and it seems to get better every year, with the old guard still delivering, and the up-and-comers putting us on the global stage.
While COVID has us in lockdown, now's the time to explore. 20 of our top rappers have listed their top local tracks of all time...stoked to see my favourite Briggs, Sampa and Remi tracks made the list. All tracks listed are bona fide bangers and showcase some of our brightest. For mine, the only glaring absent duo is Horrorshow. And top track? 77% by The Herd - the track that ignited my love for the scene, the pad, the pen, and that still gives me goosebumps to hear.
Take the time, check the rhyme!

Absolutely disgusted by the decision of the Australia Council to cut the heart out of the home of Australian theatre - another dagger to our industry.
There's nothing trivial about this - La Mama supports and promotes local artists at all stages of their career, and has been where many of our established artists - the works of whom many of us are relying on to keep us sane through this pandemic - cut their teeth when starting out. It's also where so many Melbournians were introduced to theatre and the magic of the stage.
They gave Thorny Devil our first break, and when I've described the level of support they provided to us to artist friends abroad and interstate, they've been blown away, and more than a little envious!
As a taxpayer and artist, I fully reject the decision by those bureaucratic pishers at OzCo.
