The Official Page for Half Moon Bay, Black Rock, Victoria, 3193. Half Moon Bay is a bay and neighbourhood on Port Phillip, south east of Melbourne.
Located in the suburb of Black Rock, it is home to the Black Rock Yacht Club. This bay also gets a mention in the Cat Empire song, "The Wine Song". Half Moon Bay is also home to HMVS Cerberus, the last surviving monitor warship in the world, which acts as a breakwater. This has us stumped too Cerberus Beach House!
CONFUSED? You’re not alone. Despite there being no sailing during winter, the 16 car parks directly in front of our restaurant are reserved for boat trailers every weekend, and anyone else parking there (even with a Bayside permit) risks a $148 fine, which Council officers are vigorously enforcing (be warned). Also, if you park at 7pm without a Bayside permit, you still have to buy a ticket for one hour. We are liaising with Council re simpler and more reasonable parking arrangements at Half Moon Bay, particularly for the off-peak season and non-Bayside visitors, as recently extended to Rickett’s Point teahouse. BEACH THEFTS: Swimmers, be warned: a $5000 watch and a $500 pair of sunglasses were stolen from the sand at Brighton Beach yesterday. And at Half Moon Bay on Sunday, a bag containing a mobile phone, camera and other items was nicked. Glen Eira Bayside CIU: 8530 5225.
