At the heart and on the frontline of our community our libraries keep evolving to deliver more value for our community.

It was lovely to visit Carnegie library with fellow councillors Councillor Kay Rimbaldo; Glen Eira Council; Moorleigh Ward, Councillor Kimberley Young, Mallanbool Ward, Glen Eira and Cr Simone Zmood to see an phenomenally popular baby story time, our library of things and the great new after hours pick up lockers.

🌼 Wishing a meaningful Shavuot to those who celebrate

Shavuot is observed seven weeks after Passover and marks the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. With roots as a harvest festival, it also celebrates the first wheat of the season.

It’s a time for learning, reflection, community connection and sharing dairy foods.

Two lovely Booran ward experiences today; I helped out at Tony’s cafe to introduce the amazing duo Gwynn and Veronica who founded the cafe almost 17 years ago as my neighbourhood champions. Serving over 400 people twice a week Gwynn and Veronica lead a team of incredible volunteers who sort a mountain of food and manufacture 100s of meals. I then popped into Golden Days radio for an interview with Marilyn for their magazine program.

Who would you name a place after? Through the Finding Her Research Hub, Her Place Women’s Museum are building a growing name Bank of Australian women whose names could be considered in future place naming, supporting councils, developers, and communities working toward more balanced and representative public spaces.

We’re actively adding to this list and would love to hear her name.
