This message is being issued for CentralVic_Gippsland.

- A 4.8 magnitude earthquake occurred at Leongatha at 02.01AM 3 October 2026.
- A 3.1 magnitude aftershock occurred near Leongatha at 2.56AM, 3 October 2026.

There is no immediate threat to the community and no action is required.

If you felt the earthquake, stay calm, check for hazards, and be prepred for further possible aftershocks.

🧡 DAYTIME VOLUNTEERS WANTED – KNOX SES 🧡

Are you available during the day and looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community?

Knox SES is looking for new volunteers who have daytime availability to join our operational response team.

Knox is a busy VICSES Unit, responding to a wide variety of emergencies across our community and beyond. Our volunteers regularly respond to:

🌳 Storm and flood emergencies – including trees down, building damage and other severe weather incidents
🚗 Road Crash Rescue – responding to serious collisions and working alongside other emergency services to rescue people trapped in vehicles
🚨 Emergency support – assisting Victoria Police, Fire Rescue Victoria, Ambulance Victoria and other agencies when our skills and resources are needed

While many of our volunteers work full-time during the week, emergencies don’t wait until after 5pm. That’s why having members who can respond during weekdays is incredibly important to maintaining our operational capability.

Whether you work from home, work flexible hours, study, work shifts, are semi-retired or simply have availability during the day, we’d love to hear from you.

You don’t need previous emergency services experience. We provide the training, equipment and support you need to develop the skills to respond safely and effectively.

Volunteering with Knox SES is an opportunity to learn new skills, meet great people and, most importantly, be there for your community when they need help most.

🚨 Thank You, Knox City Council! 🚨

A huge thank you to Knox City Council for supporting VICSES Knox Unit through its Community Grants program.

Thanks to this funding, we've been able to purchase a new Collar Tank for water diversion and pumping exercises, water barriers to create more realistic road rescue training scenarios, and a rescue mannequin to enhance our patient search & rescue, and extrication training.

These training props will help our volunteers develop and maintain the practical skills needed to safely and effectively respond to the real emergencies our community faces. The more realistic our training, the better prepared we are when people need us most.

On behalf of all our members, thank you to Knox City Council for investing in the capability of your local SES volunteers and helping us continue to protect and support our community.

🚨 New Rescue Truck for Knox VICSES Unit 🚨

Last week, we proudly took possession of our brand new Medium Rescue Truck!

This state-of-the-art vehicle will play a vital role in supporting our volunteers and community, being deployed to both road rescue and storm-related incidents. From complex extrications to responding during severe weather events, this truck significantly enhances our ability to keep the community safe.

A huge step forward for our unit and the service we provide 🧡

Today from 8:00am to 6:00pm, the Knox SES will be out for our Annual Tin Shake! 🧡

We’re raising funds for vital equipment and to help keep our Unit running. Every little bit makes a big difference and its always greatly appreciated.

You’ll find us at the intersection of Scoresby Road and Mountain Highway, come say hi, give us a wave, or drop a coin in the tin! 😊

Whilst we always accept the traditional Cash donations, we also have 2 other options for those who aren't carrying cash.
