From Monday 23 February, the Child Safe Standards and Reportable Conduct Scheme will move from the Commission for Children and Young People to the Social Services Regulator: https://ccyp.vic.gov.au/news/changes-to-your-regulator/

If your organisation provides services or facilities for children and young people, you have a legal obligation to protect children and young people from harm and abuse. The Child Safe Standards make sure you have the right systems, policies, and practices in place to do this.

In this edition of Youth Voices, Youth Council member Julia Hunt reflects on how she navigated the twists and turns of the out-of-home care system, and how education became a lifeline.

She believes itโ€™s time for schools to imbed trauma informed practices to create environments where children and young people living in care are better understood and valued.

Youth Voices is our new platform for sharing the experiences, thoughts, and reflections of children and young people about the big issues that affect them.

Missiโ€™s story reflects the educational experiences of many children and young people growing up in out-of-home care who are often misunderstood, labelled, and are held back by a system that isn't equipped to support them.

Now sheโ€™s using her experiences to advocate for change to ensure children and young people in care receive the support they deserve and need to succeed.
