We’re celebrating some very exciting news! 🏆

We’re delighted to announce that Kew Toy Library was recently recognised at the Toy Libraries Australia Toy Library Awards!

Kew Toy Library was a finalist for Metro Toy Library of the Year, which is a fantastic achievement and recognition of the wonderful work our entire team does to support our
members and our local community.

And there’s even more to celebrate… 🎉
Our Coordinator, Claire, was not only a finalist for Toy Librarian of the Year - she WON!🏆🎉

Claire has been a Coordinator at Kew Toy Library for 3.5 years and has worked hard to continually improve the service Kew Toy Library provides to our members and community. During this time, she has also initiated new areas within our collection, including Literacy, Sensory and Developmental Skills, helping to expand the range of resources available to support children’s learning, development and play.

Being selected as a finalist this year is a significant achievement for our whole toy library team.

Our volunteers, committee members and coordinators all contribute to making Kew Toy Library the welcoming, affordable and community-focused place it is today.
We’re incredibly proud to see Kew Toy Library recognised, and even prouder to celebrate
Claire’s well-deserved win!

Congratulations, Claire and thank you to our amazing Kew Toy Library team for everything you do! 🤝

We are pleased to announced that Kew Toy Library has won a $5000 Pathways to Inclusion & Belonging Grant, thanks to Toy Libraries Australia.

This funding will allow our toy library to undertake new inclusion approaches, that strengthen relationships with local families, create welcoming inclusive environments and increase participation of children with disability, developmental delay or developmental concern.

Some of our plans will focus on implementation of new signage promoting accessibility and inclusiveness, disability awareness training, and additional Stay & Play activities in 2027 with allied health professionals in attendance.

Our committee is very excited about the possibilities that this grant will bring to our toy library!

This opportunity would not be possible without the support of Toy Libraries Australia and this grants program is funded by the Australian Government, Department of Health, Disability and Ageing.

📣 Kew Toy Library is making some changes to our Membership structure from 1 October 2026 📣

We’re simplifying our membership options from four plans to two! 🧩💛

🧩 Standard — $120/year
Borrow up to 5 toys at a time

🧩 Plus — $160/year
Borrow up to 7 toys at a time

💛 Concession rates will continue at 50% off both plans.

We’re also increasing the optional roster duty levy from $60 to $80, and making some small changes to our party hire fees.

What does this mean for current members?

Nothing straight away! 🙌

Your current membership will continue under your existing plan and price until your normal expiry date. There are no changes during your current membership term.

When it’s time to renew, you’ll choose between the new Standard and Plus plans.

The current $100 membership, which allows borrowing of up to 4 toys, will be phased out. For many members, the new plans will mean no change — or even more borrowing capacity for the same price.

The roster duty levy only applies if you’re unable to complete your roster requirements, so for the many members who volunteer with us, nothing changes! We love seeing your smiling faces at the Library. 😊

🎉 Already booked a party?
Any party hire bookings made before 1 October will continue under the existing fee structure.

Why the change?

Our membership fees haven’t changed since before mid-2018, while the costs of running the Toy Library have increased considerably.

These changes will help us keep up with those costs while also making our membership options simpler.

Most importantly, your membership fees and our amazing volunteers are what keep Kew Toy Library running. 💛

Thank you for being part of our wonderful community!
