Navigation Skills Weekend 23rd –25th October 2026,
Dallas Brooks Scout Camp

Here’s a little look at how the Navigation Skills Weekend has been going! Yep, they’ve had some rain but that hasn’t stopped these guys! They’ve put their resilience to the test, pushed through the conditions and kicked off this morning with PT before putting their navigation skills to the test in the activity of the day.

Now, it’s time to look forward to a well deserved BBQ dinner before calling it a night!

Well done, guys! Keep up the great work, keep challenging yourselves and keep pushing through. Your determination and teamwork are what it’s all about!

Special Thanks to DAH Michelle Harper for the on the spot shots!!

Exercise Emu 2026 - One for the books 🌿

Welcome back to the cadets who have spent the week out at field and returned home on Saturday afternoon.

The aim of this exercise is to provide cadets with the opportunity to challenge themselves while working together as a team and learning new skills.

From participating in live fire on Range Day to putting their military skills to the test and ending the week with a talent show, this was certainly a week of enjoyable experiences.

Congratulations to all for a fantastic Annual Field Exercise (AFX)! 👏

WELCOME BACK CADETS!!

We’re sure you’re all very glad to have your cadets back home they must have plenty of stories to share.

We were very fortunate with the weather and the cadets had a fantastic opportunity to meet and get to know cadets from other units. They spent the week taking part in challenging activities, learning new skills, pushing themselves outside their comfort zones and at the same time, having a heap of fun!

A big thank you to all our parents and families for your support in helping make the week possible. And a special thank you to those parents who had to make the trip up for pick-up a little earlier than expected. We really appreciate your understanding and flexibility.
It was great to see the cadets return with plenty of memories, stories and no doubt, a newfound appreciation for a shower and their own beds!

Lots of photos to follow soon
Thank you again for your continued support. It is very much appreciated.

Over the weekend, a group of our cadets travelled to Canberra to take part in the VIC BDE ADFA Open Day activity. After an 8‑hour trip on Friday, the team settled in and prepared for a full and exciting program.

On Saturday, cadets spent the day exploring the ADFA Open Day, meeting Defence personnel, learning about career pathways, and experiencing life at the Academy. The evening finished with a night bus tour around Canberra, giving cadets a chance to see key landmarks and learn more about the nation’s capital.

On Sunday, cadets took part in a leadership challenge course, building teamwork, communication, and resilience. They then visited the Australian War Memorial for a guided tour before beginning the 8‑hour journey back to Victoria.

31 ACU is proud of all cadets who attended and represented the unit with maturity, enthusiasm, and professionalism throughout the weekend.
