Such a tragedy news: RIP Sharmila Tuladhar.
It is with great sadness we mourn the loss of yet another young Nepali woman, Sharmila Tuladhar, 37 years old, who passed away today amidst family and friends in her battle with cancer at Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Sharmila had been diagnosed with cancer in October 2015 and her sister and brother in law had arrived in Melbourne a month and half ago to care for her as her situation rapidly detoriated. Her ending was sudden whilst some of our active community members were trying to get her sole surviving parent, her mother to see her during her last days. She took her last breathe today at 3.10 pm surrounded by some of our community members who has been supporting her for last 3-4 months after her diagnosis.
It is Sharmila's family wish that we carry out the funeral ritual in Australia as it is very hard for her mother to see the dead body of her daughter and send back her ashes to Nepal through her sister and brother in law.
On behalf of NAV jointly with Nepalese Consulate in Victoria and NRNA, we are requesting all Nepalese to contribute to Sharmila's funeral expenses so that we can give this beautiful soul a dignified and fitting farewell. If you would like to make a contribution, please donate to
