The Consulate-General of Japan in Melbourne will be closed on Monday 8 June for the King's Birthday public holiday.

Thank you, DFAT (Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) Victoria State Office, for arranging the Economic Diplomacy Program for the Consular Corps in northern Victoria, which included visits to a gold and antimony mine and a fruit packing facility.

On 2 June, the Consulate-General of Japan in Melbourne held a seminar and social gathering for working holidaymakers and international students.

Consul-General Furuya visited Port Lincoln (City of Port Lincoln Council), South Australia, a sister city of Muroto (室戸市役所), Kochi Prefecture. He attended a civic reception hosted by Mayor Diana Mislov - Mayor & Citizen, City of Port Lincoln, met with local tuna companies, and toured the city’s grain terminal.

At the opening reception for ‘RISING’, Deputy Consul-General Miguchi exchanged greetings with the Hon Margaret Gardner AC of Victoria and the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Nick Reece. Representatives from Japan Foundation, Sydney, one of Rising’s partners, were also in attendance.

CG Furuya met with the Victorian Minister for Agriculture, the Hon. Michaela Settle MP, to discuss continued support from the state government for Japanese food-related companies, among other matters related to agriculture and regional development 🇯🇵🇦🇺.

CG Furuya attended the 24th annual Japan Festival in Box Hill 2026, which recorded around 6,000 visitors this year to enjoy Japanese 🇯🇵 performances, exhibitions, cosplay, food, and more! Thank you to all the organisers, supporters, volunteers, and to everyone who came to the festival! 🎉

Consul-General Furuya visited Northern Tasmania, participating in a tour of Pivot Maritime International's cutting-edge maritime simulators, and enjoying a robust discussion about Japan-Tasmania 🇯🇵🇦🇺 relations with the mayor of Meander Valley Council.
