Humanity is really in a very difficult place at the moment. We're stuck in a crossroads between the old, nationalised economies and the globalisation of the future. The two are colliding like tectonic plates.

There are no bad or evil people here, just groups that are affected differently.

First world manufacturing, and thus most blue collar work, has largely fled their states due to a combined push from globalising trade and weakened protections. Unions have evaporated largely, and workers are left to the whims of their employers.

The anger, the frustration comes from the hundreds of millions of western workers who cant find the work their parents had. Only minimal pay service jobs. The vague hope that Trump might fix this is why his support base will never stop supporting him. Its a desperation by those felt abandoned.

But whats the answer here? The only two sustainable systems are at either end, where we are is unsustainable. We have two choices, repeal global trade and technology and revert to a more isolated 50s style world, which did function. Or, as I believe is the better answer, embrace and push through to fully realized globalism. Where the entire world is one, 50s style, strong union, cheap education state.

By removing economic competition, wherever you are you'll be able to move and find work. By having a single labour market, the employees and unions will be able to demand much more amenable standards. No more being undercut by low cost Chinese labour.

Not only that, but its the only hope we ever have of seeing the rest of the universe.

We're 50k years overdue for another mass extinction event, I firmly agree with Cooper: "Humanity was born on this planet, we were never meant to die here".

People today, especially young people, are becoming overwhelmingly universalist.

Not to say everyone, but the youth of today lean much more heavily toward a pan-humanist idea of the world. The borders that seperate the different parts of humanity are seen by many as increasingly irrelevant. Moreover, they impede humanity.

The mission of humankind should be to advance, and spread out, and go beyond our small home. To become so much more than we are. But many are overly focused on short term gains and becoming the kings of our speck of dirt. Entire life times are dedicated to the dominion over others, instead of to the advancement of the species we are all a part of. That is the disillusionment with the world, it is the clash of the new and hopeful against the old and the worn down. Exhaustion has created tunnel vision, and it is our duty as the new humanity to resist it.

There are schools of thought, many branches of what is called 'humanism' but we must stand up for an amalgamation of humanistic philosophy and pan-human politics.

More than just fighting for the oppressed and feeding the hungry, but fighting for the exact structural change which will render such things irrelevant.

Never let apathy destroy the fire inside you, because our future depends on it.
