Fire & Rescue NSW's purpose is to enhance community safety, quality of life and confidence by minimising the impact of hazards and emergency incidents on the people, environment and economy of New South Wales. As one of the world’s largest urban fire and rescue services, we manage fire emergencies in NSW’s major cities and towns. We respond to rescues, hazardous materials incidents and possible terrorism activities across the State. We work with other government agencies to minimise the impact of bushfires, storms, floods, landslides, building collapses, motor vehicle accidents and other emergencies. We also run prevention and preparedness programs to prevent these emergencies and reduce their impact on the community.

🐍🚒 SNAKE SEASON IS HERE!

With the warmer weather, our slithery locals are out and about around Menai and surrounds!

Remember, snakes aren't looking for trouble, so give them space, keep your pets and little ones safe, and never attempt to catch one yourself.

🚒 Did you know our firefighters at 090 Menai Fire and Rescue include trained snake handlers who can safely capture and relocate snakes?

☎️ If a snake poses an immediate danger, call Triple Zero (000).

Stay safe and keep an eye out for our slithery neighbours! 🐍❤️

Every day across the state, thousands of emergency services members put on a uniform that represents their dedication to helping others, and they wear it knowing the inherent risks in providing this service.

Sadly, those risks became a devastating reality this morning after the NSW Police Force lost one of their own when a constable was killed in Redfern while responding to a call, and a second constable remains in hospital.

FRNSW Firefighters work alongside NSW Police Officers at incidents every day, a loss like this is felt across every emergency service.

My thoughts are with her family, her friends and her colleagues across the NSW Police Force, and with the constable now recovering.
