🚒 Merbein’s Fire Truck Fleet Has Doubled! 🚒
This week, the Merbein Fire Brigade proudly took ownership of two miniature firefighting trucks that will play a big role in our future community engagement activities.
These unique trucks are powered by live firefighting hoses, allowing participants to go head-to-head in a fun 1 vs 1 competition while learning about firefighting equipment and teamwork.
A huge thank you to our local community and the businesses that support the brigade through our Fire Equipment Maintenance services and donations. Their generous contributions helped make this project possible.
Investing in equipment like this allows us to deliver fun, interactive, and family-friendly activities that help build community connections, promote fire safety awareness, and introduce people of all ages to the important role volunteers play in protecting our communities. We would like to also like to thank Laser Signs & Print and Ductmakers Sheetmetal Mildura for working with us to bring this project to life.

Tonight Merbein Fire Brigade attended the Mildura Airport exercise where we practiced a real life scenario of a plane that had a crash landing.

At this exercise we worked along side many other emergency services and volunteers with extracting patients from the plane safely, assisting Fire Rescue Victoria with putting out the plane that was on fire, being an extra water source if required and being BA back up if required.

Exercises like this are an important part of ensuring our emergency response procedures, communication and partnerships are tested and ready when needed for the best possible outcome.

Merbein Fire Brigade has registered for Oceans to Outback, a month-long challenge to raise vital funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Throughout October, we will be either walking, running or riding many hundreds of kilometres (virtually) around Australia!

Today we mark National Police Remembrance Day, a time to pause and honour those who have given their lives in the line of duty.

We remember their service and recognise the impact of their loss on their families, friends and colleagues.

We are incredibly proud to work alongside our police colleagues every single day, and we acknowledge their commitment and courage as they protect our communities.

Happy Father’s Day to all the incredible dads, grandfathers, and father figures across District 18! 🚒❤️

Today, we are taking a moment to celebrate those who wear two very important hats, being a dad at home and a dedicated volunteer in our community.

Being a CFA dad takes a special kind of person. It means being ready to drop everything when their pagers sound, stepping away from the dinner table, waking up in the middle of the night or missing family milestones to keep other families in their community safe. You aren't just heroes to the communities you protect, you are the ultimate role models to your children, teaching them the true meaning of selflessness, courage and community spirit.

We also want to send a massive thank you to the wonderful partners and families who stand behind our volunteer dads. Thank you for holding the fort at home when the pager goes off and for sharing your dads with us when Victoria needs them most.

To the dads who are spending today on shift, working on the farm, training or answering a callout, thank you for your unwavering dedication.

And to everyone missing a special father or father figure today, our thoughts and hearts are right there with you.

Wishing all of our CFA dads a safe, relaxing, and very well-deserved Father's Day! 💛
