The Gold Coast Health and Hospital Service 2025 Volunteer & Consumer Celebration highlighted the outstanding contribution hundreds of volunteers make to the hospital each and every day.
We heard from volunteers across the hospitals, and hearing their personal stories and motivations for volunteering was incredibly inspiring. The event also featured wonderful entertainment from the Upbeat Arts Choir and Music Therapy duo as well as a fun game of Volunteer Bingo.
Congratulations to Gold Coast Health on delivering such a successful and meaningful celebration.
VGC CEO Brad Cooper reflected on the morning, saying:
βIt was a real celebration of the friendships and camaraderie that volunteers have made and the incredible impact they have on people visiting the hospital.β
Did you know we also support like-minded organisations with volunteer recruitment?
Watch the video to learn more about our member, Cycling Without Age - Gold Coast, and the incredible work theyβre doing to build bridges between generations and help reduce loneliness and social isolation.
By taking community members out on bike rides, they create meaningful connections, encourage people to stay active, and bring joy through simple experiences, like feeling the wind in their hair again. ππ²

On Sunday, we came together to celebrate National Volunteer Week, recognise our dedicated Accessible Beaches volunteers, and mark the close of another incredible Accessible Beaches season πβοΈ
For the past five years, Surfers Paradise has been the anchor of the Accessible Beaches program, helping create more inclusive opportunities for everyone to enjoy our coastline. Itβs been fantastic to see the program expand, with accessible beaches now supporting beachgoers right across the Gold Coast.
Thank you to everyone who helps make Accessible Beaches possible π

Today we hosted a beach clean-up and BBQ as part of National Volunteer Week. An incredible group of volunteers including VGC Members and Partners joined forces to care for our coastline. ππ
Despite the windy conditions, the sun was shining and spirits were high as we collected over 20kg of rubbish from the beach. Some of the more unusual finds included shoes, a beer drinking hat, surfboards and even a whipper snipper! β»οΈ
We also sorted recyclables and separated hard plastics for local upcycler TRUEBLUE, making sure as much was diverted from landfill as possible.
A huge thank you to Bindaree Food Group for generously sponsoring the meat.
It was great to connect with so many passionate people making a positive impact in our community. What a fantastic way to wrap up National Volunteer Week!

This morningβs National Volunteer Week workshop was a success, with volunteers gaining valuable skills and knowledge to better support people living with dementia.
A big thank you to our facilitator, Kerry, for sharing her time, energy, knowledge, and experience with us all. Your passion and expertise made the session both engaging and impactful.
