💧🏠 THREE YEARS ON — URANDANGI FAMILIES ARE STILL WAITING TO RETURN HOME TO COUNTRY!🖤💛❤️
Thank you to North West Queensland for continuing to shine a light on the heartbreaking situation facing Urandangi residents, almost three years after the devastating floods.
For many Warluwarra families, Urandangi is not just a township — it is HOME. It is Country, culture, family, identity and belonging.
Yet families remain displaced, homes and essential infrastructure still need attention, and serious concerns continue about access to safe drinking water and the future of the community.
The Urandangi and Marmanya Indigenous Reference Groups, alongside Traditional Owners and community members, have been advocating for answers, accountability and a coordinated plan to rebuild.
Three years is far too long for families to be waiting to return home.
We are calling for:
💧 Safe and reliable drinking water
🏠 Restoration of homes and essential community infrastructure
🔥 Adequate water and infrastructure for emergency services
🤝 Genuine consultation with Warluwarra Traditional Owners and affected families
❤️ A clear, funded plan to support families to return home to Country
Campfire Healing Indigenous Corporation remains committed to supporting the IRGs through secretariat and administrative assistance as they lead their own community advocacy.
Urandangi has a history. Urandangi has people. Urandangi deserves a future.
We encourage everyone to read and share this important ABC story. Help keep the voices of Urandangi families heard.

Our people should not have to fight for the basic essentials needed to live safely on their own Country.
More than three years after floods destroyed the remote outback town of Urandangi, residents still cannot return home, with the local council unable to fund essential rebuilds.
