👩‍🍳🍪 Cooking Up a Storm at Milman State School! 🍪👨‍🍳

Today, our students kicked off their cooking journey, tying in beautifully with our English and Science units – Procedural Texts and Changes! 📝🔬

🥖 Our older students put their reading and following instructions skills to the test as they worked through a recipe to create some delicious Meatball Subs!🥖🧀

🍪 Our younger students became little bakers, whipping up some yummy Chocolate Chip Biscuits! The smell coming from our kitchen was absolutely divine!

Throughout our cooking experiences, students explored the importance of following procedures, sequencing steps and observing the changes that occur when ingredients are combined and cooked.

💬❤️ But one of our favourite moments happened at lunchtime!

As we sat together enjoying our creations, our topic of discussion was, “What are you most looking forward to next year?"

The answers our students shared were so lovely to hear! 🥰 It was wonderful listening to their excitement, hopes and the things they are looking forward to.

Sometimes it's these little conversations around the lunch table that remind us just how special our little school community really is. ❤️💚

Learning, cooking, laughing and making memories together – that's what it's all about at Milman State School! 🌟

🧚‍♀️🍞 FAIRY BREAD FUN IN THE CLASSROOM!🍞🧚‍♀️

Who knew making fairy bread could be such a fantastic learning experience? 🌈✨

Today, our students explored procedure texts with a very delicious hands-on lesson – How to Make Fairy Bread! 🎉

🍞 Our Preps worked hard to sequence the steps of the procedure through a fun cut-and-paste activity.

🌟 Our Year 1 students did a wonderful job of writing out the steps in the correct order.

🌈 Our Years 3–6 students had a slightly different challenge! They had to make their fairy bread following EXACTLY what they had written in their own procedures! And boy, wasn't that entertaining! 😂

It didn't take long for some students to realise that their instructions weren't quite as clear or detailed as they thought! 🤭

This was such a valuable learning experience, allowing students to see firsthand the importance of clear instructions, specific vocabulary, sequencing and including every little detail when writing a procedure.

The best part? Rather than being told what was missing, our students were able to discover it for themselves! 💡👏

A fantastic lesson filled with laughter, learning and, of course, plenty of colourful sprinkles! 🌈🍞

Learning is always sweeter when it's hands-on!❤️💚

🎣🦀🏏 WHAT AN AWESOME DAY AT ST LAWRENCE!🏏🦀🎣

What a fantastic day our Milman students had at St Lawrence today! 🌞💚❤️

The students were divided into three groups – 🔵 Blue, 🔴 Red and 🟡 Yellow – and rotated through three fun-filled, hands-on activities!

🎣 Activity 1 – Fishing Fun!
Students learnt how to cast a net and how to cast a line using a fishing rod. There were plenty of smiles as everyone had a go at developing their fishing skills!

🦀 Activity 2 – Mud Crabbing and water safety with Policeman Pat!
Students learnt all about mud crabbing, including the legal size limits, rules and regulations, and the consequences of not following them. Such an interesting and valuable learning experience!

🏏 Activity 3 – Cricket Time!
Students enjoyed learning all about cricket, developing their skills and having plenty of fun along the way!

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Michael, his wonderful staff and the amazing St Lawrence P&C for organising and hosting such a fantastic event.

Thank you for thinking of our little school and kindly extending the invitation for our students to be involved. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to come together, learn new skills, build friendships and make wonderful memories! 🥰

Days like today remind us just how special our small country school communities truly are! 🌾❤️

🏉 WHAT A FIRST DAY BACK! 🏉

We’ve kicked off Term 4 with a bang! 💥

Our students enjoyed their first AFL lesson this morning, learning new skills, getting active and having plenty of fun along the way.

We’re excited to have this fantastic program running at Milman State School for the next five weeks and can’t wait to watch our students build their skills and confidence each week.

A great start to our final term of 2026! 💙💛🏉
