attended a Bushfire last night in Macquarie Fields at around 11:30pm, whilst this was 30 minutes before the BFDP began its a timely reminder to be ready and prepared.

This weekend we had a crew from attend the Katanna Rd, Hazard Reduction in .

We also had 2 of our members fulfilling Sector Commander Roles across the fireground.

UPDATE: 17:00 - NSW RFS Crews have contained the fire and will continue to monitor the fireground.

are currently on scene with multiple other crews from around NSW Rural Fire Service Macarthur attempting to gain control of a Bushfire burning in the bush long Georges River Rd.

Crews from the NSW Rural Fire Service are still attempting to control this fire.

Kentlyn Rural Fire Brigae along with NSW RFS - Georges River Brigade are conducting a small Hazard Reduction Burn in Darling Ave Kentlyn/Ruse today 13/09/2026. For everyones safety please keep well clear whilst the operation is underway. Please only contact 000 if you locate an unattended fire.

A busy day for yesterday our crews were called to multiple incidents across the area, Including a Structure Fire, Wires Down & one Bushfire.

Our crew on Georges River 1 Bravo attended the Structure Fire & Wires Down whilst a crew attended a Bushfire on Georges River 1 Alpha in this Bushfire was caused by High Voltage Power lines that fell due to strong winds, resulting in a fast moving fire.

A strong and quick response from multiple NSW Rural Fire Service brigades managed to get the Bushfire under control quickly with the help of a Water Bombing Helicopter.

This is a timely reminder we are right around the corner from the start of the Bush Fire Danger Period, and you should be prepared.

🔥TOTAL FIRE BAN - EXTREME 🔥

Today 5th of September is a Total Fire Ban for the this means you’re not allowed any fires or allowed to conduct activities like mowing & grinding that will produce sparks close to areas that could catch fire.

If you see any fires today report them immediately to and a Fire Appliance will attend.

🔥 HAZARD REDUCTION - MINTO HEIGHTS 🔥

This coming Friday 4th of September NSW RFS - Georges River Brigade & Kentlyn Rural Fire Brigade will be taking advantage of favourable weather conditions to undertaken a small Hazard Reduction in Minto Heights.

This burn will help protect residents during Bushfires & form part of an overall strategy to reduce fuel loads in Minto Heights.

🔥 NOTICE OF PROPOSED HAZARD REDUCTION – MINTO HEIGHTS

Crews from the NSW Rural Fire Service – Cumberland/Macarthur District are planning to undertake a hazard reduction burn at Hansens Road, Minto Heights, weather permitting.

📍 Location: Hansens Road, Minto Heights
📅 Date: Friday 4 September 2026
🔥 Size: Approximately 1.6 hectares

The burn forms part of ongoing preparations to reduce bush fire risk in the local area. Hazard reduction can help reduce fuel loads and the intensity of future bush fires, but it does not remove the threat of fire or the need for you and your family to be prepared.

Residents in Minto Heights and surrounding areas may notice smoke in the area during and following the burn. The burn may be postponed at short notice if weather or other conditions are unsuitable.

If you are in or around the area while the burn is underway:

• Keep doors and windows closed to minimise smoke entering your home.
• Remove washing from clotheslines and keep outdoor furniture under cover.
• Retract pool covers to protect them from possible ember damage.
• Ensure pets have access to a protected area.
• If driving through smoke, slow down, keep windows closed and turn your headlights on.
• Please keep away from the burn area for your own safety.
• If you have asthma or a respiratory condition, reduce outdoor activity if smoke levels are high and follow your health management plan.

Hazard reduction is an important part of preparing for bush fires, but preparation is a shared responsibility. Know your risk and make sure you and your family know what you will do if threatened by fire.
