A big win for sustainability on the Cassowary Coast! 🌿

Mission Beach Dive has officially achieved ECO Certification for its dive and reef experiences, recognising the practical steps the team takes to care for the environment while sharing the Great Barrier Reef with visitors.

From reef safe mineral sunscreen, to responsible anchoring, zero discharge and fuel efficient vessel operations, sustainability is built into the way these experiences operate.

It’s wonderful to see a local tourism operator recognised for the care they put into protecting the places that make our region so special.

Congratulations to the Mission Beach Dive team!! 🐢🌊

Meet Tully’s giant gumboot! 🥾🐸

Standing just shy of 8 metres tall, the Golden Gumboot was built to represent Tully’s incredible rainfall record.

In 1950, Tully recorded Australia’s highest annual rainfall ever recorded in an Australian town, with an incredible 7,900 mm falling throughout the year. The gumboot’s height matches that rainfall almost exactly.

And there’s more to this giant landmark than meets the eye. Climb the internal spiral staircase to reach the viewing platform at the top, where you can look out across Tully and the surrounding landscape.

You’ll also spot a very Tully addition climbing the side of the boot: a white lipped green tree frog. 🐸

If you’re exploring the Cassowary Coast these school holidays, add the Golden Gumboot to your list of stops along the way.
