🎨✨ What an Amazing Morning of Art, Culture and Connection! ✨

What an incredible morning we had! 🌞💛 All of our kindy group went on a wonderful excursion to the library for the CWAATSICH Women's Group. 🖌️🎨

📚 Exploring the Ash Mitchell Art Exhibition

When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Miss Heather, the librarian, who supported us as we explored the Ash Mitchell Art Exhibition. 🖼️ The children noticed so many interesting things, including the beautiful textures throughout the artworks. We also learned about ochre, a special natural material that Ash used to create his beautiful artworks. ❤️🤎 It was a wonderful opportunity to explore art, culture and creativity together!

👻 Getting Creative with Halloween Art! 🎃

Next, we were introduced to the wonderful CWATTSICH staff and ladies for there for the women's group, who joined us to create some amazing Halloween artwork! 🕷️🌙

Our artwork involved lots of exciting steps:

💜 First, we painted our pictures purple.
🌿 Next, we collected little sticks and glued them onto our creations.
👀 Then, we added googly eyes and fun stickers.
⭐ Finally, we sprinkled on some magical nighttime stars!

The children loved exploring the different materials, expressing their creativity and bringing their spooky Halloween masterpieces to life! 🎃✨ What a special experience to share with our new friends and helpers.

🧁 Morning Tea, Stories and Play! 📖

After all that creativity, we enjoyed morning tea with our new friends. 🥰 We then gathered to listen to a wonderful story with Aunty Dessy before enjoying some playtime together. The children also shared some of their favourite songs with our new friends. 🎶💕

To make the day even more special, we received an amazing gift to take home and share with our families from the CWAATSICH staff! 🎁💛 What a beautiful way to finish such a memorable experience.

🎒✨ Prep Transition Fun at Mitchell State School! ✨🎒

We had another wonderful visit to Mitchell State School as we continued getting ready for Prep next year! 🏫💛

We enjoyed decorating our very own pencil cases ✏️🎨 and exploring the classroom with all the wonderful toys and activities. We were guided by our peers as we investigated, created and discovered all the exciting things the classroom had to offer. 🧩🧱🚗

There were lots of fantastic creations made with LEGO today! From farms and houses to vehicles, machines and even a machine that made sausages 🌭😂, our imaginations were running wild! We also enjoyed drawing castles 🏰, making a broom out of sticks 🧹 and working together on puzzles.

To finish off our wonderful session with the Prep class, we got our bodies moving with a big Danny Go! dance party! 🪩💃🕺 What a fun way to end our visit!

Throughout our transition visits, we continue to practise our school values: Be a Learner 📚, Be Respectful 💛 and Be Safe 🛡️. We are so proud of the way the children are exploring their new environment, building friendships and growing in confidence as they prepare for their exciting journey into Prep!

🍌🐒 Moving Monkeys🍌🐒

Tuesdays are always lots of fun because it’s Mr Daniel day every fortnight! We were so excited to see Mr Daniel today, as it had been a long time since we last caught up with him.

Mr Daniel brought along all our favourite songs for us to sing, dance and join in with. We also played a fun colour game where we had to find different colours and place our arm, toe, finger or foot on the matching colour. We had so much fun moving our bodies and showing off our colour-matching skills!

We then enjoyed a funny story with Mr Daniel about some cheeky monkeys who just couldn’t wait patiently for their banana! 🍌🐒 There were plenty of smiles, laughter and fun as we joined in with the story.

🎵 Mainly Music Fun with Miss Jess! 🎶

We had such a fun Mainly Music! We hadn’t seen Miss Jess in three whole weeks, so we were very excited to join her again for some singing, movement and interactive games! 🥰

We went on a sock hunt, searching for hidden socks, and climbed aboard an imaginary train using our stretchy band. We also had lots of fun with the colourful scarves, moving and dancing along to the music.

I think this was one of our BEST Mainly Music sessions yet! There were so many smiles, giggles and wonderful moments as everyone joined in and shared what they enjoyed most. ❤️

It was lovely to hear everyone's favourite parts of the session and see how each child engaged with the activities in their own special way. Brixlee even enjoyed adding an extra challenge by hiding the socks from friends! 🧦😂

🦄 Mitchell State School-Prep Transitions! 📚

We headed across to Mitchell State School to begin our Prep transition visits, helping our little learners become familiar with their future school environment. 💛

We started our visit by joining Mrs Newton for a lovely story about a unicorn who goes to school. 🦄 We then got creative with a spectacular unicorn craft, learning all about collage and how to cover our paper with our materials, leaving absolutely no gaps!
There was plenty more to explore in the classroom, too! The children enjoyed discovering the puzzles, fishing games and all the fantastic learning experiences available to them. 🎣🧩

One of the highlights of our visit was learning from the Prep students, who were such wonderful role models! They showed our children what it means to be a Prep student, from sitting on the mat and listening to a story to participating in craft activities and learning at a desk. It was lovely to see the older children sharing their knowledge and helping our little learners feel comfortable in their new surroundings. 🌟

🌱 Why are Prep transition visits so important?
These experiences are incredibly valuable for our Kindy children as they prepare for the next big step in their learning journey. Visiting the school, exploring the classroom and building connections with teachers and Prep students helps develop their confidence, independence and sense of belonging in a school environment.

By making these connections early, we are helping to build a positive bridge between Kindy and Prep, supporting a smooth transition and nurturing a lifelong love of learning. 💛

📚🐛 Paint the Town Read – What an Amazing Day! 🐛📚

What a fantastic day! One of the most special days of the year, and it was absolutely magnificent! 💕📚

We all waited patiently for our friends to arrive, busting to know who would be dressed as what! We even spent some time peering out through the front glass doors, watching the school children arrive and getting a sneak peek at all their amazing costumes. 👀🎭

We then ventured off to Mitchell State School, where the community came out in droves to celebrate Paint the Town Read. We were absolutely delighted to be introduced to the Reading Bug, who is going to hatch a new Reading Bug after all the children read stories to the egg! 🐛🥚📖

We paraded around with our friends, waving to the school children, families and members of our community. We were very excited when our friend Whiz won Best Dressed for our age group, and The Dingo won the raffle for the Caterpillar Shopfront Challenge! 🏆🎉

Along our journey into town, we had three very special stops for stories.

📖 Nutrien – We enjoyed a wonderful story about a hippo. 🦛
📖 Mitchell Library – Author Louise Park read us a beautiful story about a sharing and caring dragon. 🐉💕
📖 Elders – We enjoyed another special story, this time read to us by our local police officers! 👮‍♀️📚

Along the way, we spotted so many amazing shopfront displays. We also had the opportunity to stop and enjoy some special time at the Newsagency and Booringa Electrical. It was wonderful to see our little town come alive with books, costumes, colour and community spirit! 🌈📚

A huge thank you to our amazing children, families, local businesses and event organisers for making this such a memorable day. It was truly spectacular, and we loved being part of such a wonderful community event! ❤️
