Across Queensland, thousands of young people are facing homelessness, often without the support networks they need.

In 2024-25:
➜ 6,910 children and young people (under 25) presented alone to a Specialist Homelessness Service.
➜ 41% of young people presenting alone identified as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
➜ Young people were more likely to be couch surfing than any other group - a situation that can leave them vulnerable to exploitation, unsafe environments, and harm.
➜ Nationally, half of the young people who sought a bed in a crisis refuge were turned away because services aren't sufficiently funded to accommodate them.

Here in Brisbane, we see this demand every day. Behind every number is a young person trying to stay safe and find stability. While YHMD shines a light on the issue, the reality for many young people doesn’t end tomorrow. Youth homelessness matters today... and EVERY DAY.

🎄 Christmas & New Year Service Update 🎄

Our service will be closed from Monday, 22 December and will we reopen on Monday, 5 January.

We know this time of year can be especially difficult, and support doesn’t stop being needed because it’s Christmas. If you or someone you know needs help during this period, please contact the below services.

Thank you to everyone who has supported our work throughout the year. We’ll be back in January and ready to continue supporting people facing homelessness.

The magical Christmas elves are already hard at work spreading Christmas joy to women and girls in need 💫

Earlier this week, our wonderful volunteer Margaret was able to help Christmas come early for vulnerable women in Brisbane's north-west by dropping off It's in the Bag donations to North West Youth Accommodation Service Mitchelton. Natalie from the charity was especially over the moon to receive five Mum & Bub Bags as part of their donations to help provide the essentials to new and expectant mothers facing hardship.

We are so delighted to be able to start delivering some Christmas goodies early to our incredible charity partners around Australia. Thank you for everyone who has donated so far, let's keep the momentum going to reach that 150k goal 🥰
