🌊 Our Year 7s tackle plastic pollution! 🌊
In the second half of Term 3, our Year 7 ITEP students (our STEM special interest pathway) took part in KBR’s OneOcean program, investigating how plastics and microplastics end up in our waterways and the impact they have on wildlife and the environment.
Students used their STEM thinking, creativity and teamwork to research the problem and come up with their own ideas for solutions. The program wrapped up with a showcase here at school, where students presented their projects and explained the thinking behind their proposals – and we were so impressed by their ideas and enthusiasm!
Programs like this help our students see how what they learn in the classroom connects to real issues in their community, and how they can be part of the solution.
A big thank you to KBR for delivering the program, and to the SA Department for Education for helping bring industry and our school together.
🚀 Does your child love STEM? Our ITEP program gives Year 7–10 students hands-on learning with coding and 3D printing, plus industry partnerships, excursions and competitions.
