As we head into fire season, now is the perfect time to make sure you, your family and your property are prepared.

TRAINING TONIGHT -
Dear the Mooroopna Community,
Tonight between 745pm and 10pm you may see several of our CFA trucks and utes out and about in the community - and hear a few loud horn "t***s", similar to a foghorn. (not too many we promise!)
Please do not be alarmed, it is just your local brigade practising our necessary skills in preparation for the upcoming warmer months and fire season.
The training vehicles will be travelling under normal road conditions - no lights and sirens.
If you do see a vehicle with lights and sirens on, this vehicle is NOT training and is responding to an emergency.
As we as a brigade prepare for the fire danger period, it is a good opportunity for our community to get your properties fire ready and check your fire plans are up to date.

🚒 LOOKING FOR SOMETHING TO DO THESE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS? 🚓

If you’re looking for a fun activity for the kids these school holidays, come down to Kidstown this Monday, 28 September, between 10am and 2pm for their Safety Day! 👨‍🚒👮‍♀️

Come along, enjoy the sunshine, have a chat with your local police officers and firefighters, and let the kids burn off some energy on the playground.

🚒 Mooroopna CFA will be there with our fire truck!

And, if the weather stays nice, we might even get the hose out for a little sq**rt! 💦😉

It’s a great opportunity for the kids to meet some of their local emergency services, learn a little about staying safe, and have some fun along the way.

We look forward to seeing you there! ❤️🚒

🏆 THE GIRLS HAVE DONE IT! 🏆
Today, Larissa and Bridgette took on the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb, tackling 28 floors of Crown Metropol while wearing 25kg of firefighting gear — all in support of three incredibly important causes: 000 Foundation, Lifeline and Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation.

And what an effort they put in! 👏🔥

⏱️ Larissa — 11:42
⏱️ Bridgette — 13:04

Congratulations girls! ❤️
You should both be incredibly proud of what you have achieved today. The physical challenge alone is huge, but taking on those 28 floors in 25kg of gear to raise awareness and funds for causes that support emergency service personnel, mental health and cancer research makes this achievement even more special.
A massive congratulations to you both!
28 floors. 25kg of gear. One incredible effort. ❤️‍🔥

💛 R U OK? DAY — September 10
Today is R U OK? Day — a day to remember that it’s OK not to be OK.
Sometimes, simply asking someone “Are you OK?” can be the start of a conversation that makes a real difference.
You don’t have to be an expert, and you don’t need to have all the answers. Listen, be there, and let them know they’re not alone.
Because one conversation could change someone’s day — or even their life.
From all of us at Mooroopna Fire Brigade, take care of yourselves, look out for each other, and don’t be afraid to start the conversation. 💛
R U OK?
Are you really OK?
Let’s make every conversation count.

🚒❤️ 12 DAYS TO GO — WE’RE STEPPING UP FOR A REASON ❤️🚒

In just 12 days, on Saturday, September 12th, three of our Mooroopna CFA members — Blade, Bridgette and Larissa — will be heading to Melbourne to take on the Melbourne Firefighter Stairclimb.

They’ll join around 1,000 emergency service personnel from across Australia to climb 28 flights of stairs, wearing 25kg of firefighting gear, either breathing on air or with their breathing apparatus donned.

But for Blade, Bridgette and Larissa, this isn't simply about the challenge.

It’s about who they’re climbing for.

Every step they take will be helping raise vital funds for three organisations doing incredible work in the community:

❤️ Lifeline — supporting people experiencing emotional distress and helping prevent su***de.

🎗️ Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation — supporting vital cancer research, treatment and care.

🚒 000 Foundation — supporting the emergency services community and the people who dedicate their lives to helping others.

Cancer. Depression. Su***de.

These are battles that affect families, friends, colleagues and communities every single day. They don't discriminate, and chances are most of us know someone whose life has been touched by one of them.

That’s why Blade, Bridgette and Larissa are willing to put themselves through the pain, heat, weight and exhaustion of 28 floors.

Because sometimes you have to take one more step, even when everything in you is telling you to stop.

They'll be carrying 25kg of gear on their backs, but they'll also be carrying the stories, struggles and memories of the people they are climbing for.

Every flight of stairs is a reminder that there are people out there fighting battles we can't always see.

And while they may be the ones climbing, they don't have to do it alone.

You can help them reach the top by donating, sharing their fundraising pages, or simply sending them a message of encouragement for the big day.

28 floors. 25kg of gear. 1,000 emergency service personnel. 3 incredible causes.

But most importantly…

3 of our own stepping up for something bigger than themselves. ❤️

Let's get behind Blade, Bridgette and Larissa and help them climb every step knowing their Mooroopna CFA family and community are behind them.

🔥 Step Up to Fight Cancer, Depression and Su***de. 🔥

🔥 Live fire training 🔥
Over the past week, and over the coming weeks, you may have noticed flashing lights and real fire activity at the running track. Rest assured, this is all part of planned training.
Mooroopna CFA, alongside our neighbouring brigades, has been undertaking live fire training using the Country Fire Authority's High Pressure Vessel Training Prop.
These specialised training props allow firefighters to safely simulate a range of realistic fire scenarios using live fire, providing invaluable hands-on experience in a controlled environment. This type of training strengthens our operational skills, builds confidence, enhances teamwork, and improves our ability to respond safely and effectively when the community needs us most.
Training opportunities like these are only possible thanks to the dedication of our volunteer firefighters, the support of our neighbouring brigades, and the instructors who deliver this specialised training. We sincerely thank everyone involved for helping ensure our crews remain prepared for the challenges of emergency response.

A huge shout out of thanks to our local CWA members for delivering surprise home made cakes on our training night again....

AusAlert is Australia’s new national warning system.

It does not replace VicEmergency and will only be used in certain situations.

AusAlert is being tested at 2 pm on Monday 27 July.

What to expect: You’ll get an alert on your mobile device. It will vibrate and make a loud, siren-like sound that lasts about 10 seconds - even if your phone is on ‘silent’ or ‘do not disturb’.

Safety: If this test could cause you or a loved one to feel unsafe, please turn off your mobile devices or switch them to aeroplane mode before the scheduled test time. Leave them off for at least one hour.

As this is just a test, you don’t need to do anything. However, in an actual disaster you should follow the alert instructions to keep yourself and others safe.

To hear what an AusAlert sounds like and to learn more, visit ausalert.gov.au.
